I'm generally not a fan of Tomoya Tomita's work.
He never blew me away with anything that he’s ever done. He’s never come up with much. He’s always been a very decent composer that could give you a good soundtrack. As far as being like mind blowing…he’s always a guy that will give you a “5 Out Of 10” soundtrack every game. He’s going to give you all he can give you and that’s just my opinion.
He was a very good, medium, mediocre composer.

Mario Galaxy, definitely, but that doesn't stop me from loving a whole lot of Shake It's soundtrack. Wavy Waters (super love this song), Mt. Lava Lava, Stonecarving City, and Whoopsy Desert are some of my favorite tracks (though I also am a big fan of Plumber's Cave). Certainly not mediocre, though. Mediocre in my mind means unmemorable. If Shake It's music wasn't catchy, THEN it would be mediocre.
Oh yeah, and Launchpad Labyrinth is really good, too, though the intro for that track gets on my nerves.

You gotta hand it to ol' Tomato, though, his percussion tracks were definitely top-notch when creativity was concerned.

Huh. Guess I'm el único that prefers Shake It!, I don't know, there's just something about the catchiness and instrumentation of the songs that I love. Not to mention all the different styles and moods of the songs! @tahutoa What's wrong with the intro of Launchpad Labyrinth?

Apples and Oranges really, both are really great and memorable soundtracks, but they are too different from each other to really say one is the better OST IMO. Though if we're going for purely personal taste, while I love Wario Land Shake It's soundtrack to pieces, I will go with Super Mario Galaxy's ost here because it is just on a whole other level of greatness and beauty for me (Though that’s by no means knocking on Shake It’s soundtrack, because it’s a great soundtrack as well).
