In the Adventure Mode trailer, Wario clearly wasn't standing on the cliff with other characters, but did anyone try to find him in that Spirits group, where characters are barely seen? There's a pair of glowing eyes I suppose to belong to him, but I want to make sure.

They're ultra cool thin glasses that help him cure his eye issues. It even looks like they work through time. On more serious note, I like to think that his face is based on Japanese folklore creatures masks. Many of those have weird details in their design, including circles around eyes.
