Everything looked oddly shiny like that in the SSBM days. Just look at Yoshi for instance. Just like everything in Brawl nowadays looks ridiculously overtextured and gritty (looking at you, Bowser and Toon Link). I'm just so happy with how beautiful Smash 4 is by comparison.
