On another note, they refer to Wario Land 3 here as well. But I'm pretty sure that's a different scientist. I mean, there's a difference between this guy:

No if you look at the Japanese name for both of them, their last name's are both "Shitain". Look closely at the bottom of the page on the Mad Scienstein article, his Japanese name is "Maddo Shitain". "Shitain" is the Japanese transliteration of "Stein".

So yeah it looks like they ARE the same character.
