I don't know sometimes I get this gain of conscious where I feel a bit like a weirdo for liking Mario games as teenager and soon to be adult. I'm wondering if any of you guys also feel this sometimes.
 
I have sometimes reconsidered whether niche taxonomics arguments on mariowiki are a worthwhile use of my finite time on this earth but the games themselves? Nah.

My thought when it comes to stuff like that has always been "people spend ages discussing celebrity personal lives and sports team strategies, what's different here?"
 
At lot of interesting and cool artistic possibilities comes when things are colorful, cartoonish and silly, they're a very fundamental way to express ourselves. I always hated this mindset that adults and teenagers should only enjoy dark and gritty things because it's "mature".

On top off that I'll add something: sometimes I feel a bit repulsed when I see footage of a retro game for children doing something a little more wild on youtube and someone in the comment section go "You know, for kids!" sarcastically, suggesting that all kids should enjoy the same type of content. As a kid I liked a few games sometimes were a little more violent, scary, bizarre or dramatic, and I think the emphasization to play safe because "for kids" made things more sterile over time.

Of course I don't think everything should be like this, it's okay to enjoy things that are just cute and wholesome.
