What I'm actually asking here in what circumstances will prefer emulation and how do you emulate games ? I know the last question may sound obvious. Of course, you'll be using an emulator but is there any specifics to it ? For example, do you exclusively use emulation on PC or tried emulating games on a homebrewed console ? What emulators do you prefer

Personally, me playing on real hardware will depend on the console. For all Wii, 3DS and Switch games, it's gonna be real hardware. I will also play DS games on my 3DS except for WarioWare DIY which I sometimes prefer to play via a PC emulator (DeSMuME) because using a drawing tablet is more comfortable. I used to emulate Sega Genesis games on my Wii using GenPlus GX which surprisingly very accurate but now I just use Kega Fusion like everyone else. For GCN games, I used to either play them on Wii directly or use Nintendont but since I got my GPU, I found it better to use Dolphin, also I don't think the GCN controller is as good as people make it out to be, sorry.

Also, I found that Dolphin runs better on Linux than Windows so I play it there now. For N64 I switched from Project64 to Parallel Launcher and I use Mesen for NES and SNES. Lastly for GBA games, I use agb_open_firm on 3DS, it's really cool as it's not emulation and boots directly into the games. Except for WarioWare: Twisted... I play it on my phone to have the twist controls as agb_open_firm doesn't support it.
