Is Wario just a bad series for cosplay?

By making them more realistic, you make them basically unrecognisable.

I know, right? It' was very hard for me to recognize this was Mario.

There are certain characteristics of a character that always stay consistent and we recognize who they belong to.

Even in fiction I've seen characters reimagined, redesigned, or stylized differently but still recognizable.

Check out this awesome Meta Knight cosplay. Meta Knight is reimagined as humanoid but still maintains all the important characteristics of Meta Knight.

That Meta Knight cosplay is exactly what I like about these stuff, really! I think the creativity goes into adapting the character rather than trying to make a real life copy of it. The cartoony designs of Wario could lend themselves to some really nice and wild stuff nobody expects, we just... need someone willing to make em, I can't insist on that enough.

Rarely does a cosplay impress me, for better or worse. Me putting a cosplay in my favorites is a rarity.

Though admittedly, I can be stuck up at times, so...

Yeah, I'm probably the same there. Which is my standards for it are absolutely insane, in the 'has to be damn near perfect sense'. The last example of cosplay that really impressed me (non Wario related) was probably the Zelda Project:

Or maybe that Bioshock one about five or so years ago.
