My thoughts on why there won't be a new Rhythm Heaven game

Rhythm Heaven is especially popular in Japan, and there is a constant demand for new games. The DS game in particular was a huge hit, selling nearly 2 million copies in Japan alone.

Despite this, the series has not had any new works released in nearly 10 years. Why?

In my opinion, there are two reasons why there won't be a new Rhythm Heaven game.

The first reason is that Nintendo underwent a major reorganization in 2015.Since then, no new Rhythm Heaven games have been released.

The second reason is that Sakamoto, who has served as the series' general producer, is busy.

Sakamoto is busy with 2D Metroid and Famicom Detective Club, so he may not have time to make a new Rhythm Heaven game. Incidentally, Sakamoto has not been involved in the development of WarioWare since Nintendo's reorganization.

What do you think?

More than anything, I just think the team has been busy with pumping out 3 WarioWare games during the last 5 years, which is pretty insane. I am sure that Nintendo knows of the popularity the series has still amassed in recent years, between them taking down Heaven Studio, and Ko Takeuchi himself commenting on the Reanimated collab.

So as a result, I think a new game is likely. It is too good of an opportunity to pass up on, and pretty much all the other games in the series came out later on in a console's life span anyways. So even though the Switch 2 is coming out I am sure we can see something new. When it comes to Tsunku, I have heard that he has found an alternate way to communicate, actually.
