#2 Captain Syrup Apologist
Keeping in line with what its prequel employed, Virtual Boy Wario Land has a variety of endings to unlock depending on the player's performance throughout the game. The more coins you collect, the better method of transportation Wario will receive to return home, after his seaplane was overtaken by beavers. However, unlike the previous game, there is another method to unlock a different array of endings: by collecting all 10 treasures in each of the levels, Wario will open the treasure vault he initially wanted to break into, giving him a magic carpet to fly home instead, as well as a genie bottle that will be important for later. To unlock the different endings in this method, the player is instead judged on the time it took to beat the game. If they took over 2 hours to clear the adventure, Wario flies home alone, but if they cleared it under 2 hours...
There she is! The subject of our discussion, a bunny girl, accompanies Wario on his journey home, much to his delight. While most players look at this as an amusing ending and don't think much further, there will always be some chump who comes along and questions things further... so on an unrelated note: Who is the Virtual Boy Wario Land bunny girl? How did she get there? No similarly-designed female characters appear during Wario's journey in the Awazon basin, and I heavily doubt this is a surprise appearance by Captain Syrup, since she was never blonde... and it would also make no sense. Imagine cozying up to the guy who ransacked your island and destroyed your castle!
While most people would throw their arms up and simply say this bunny lady is meant for a mere absurdist gag, as it turns out, the truth behind her identity is not terribly difficult to discover. After clearing the game, a hard mode is unlocked which increases the difficulty of the bosses and adds more spikes to the levels. The endings for collecting coins are the same, but there is a notable difference when you collect all 10 treasures again. If you beat the game in over 2 hours...
Demon Head, the final boss of the game, is seen paddling Wario home. You can see that he is protruding from the genie bottle, which is obtained in all treasure-related endings. Given the other endings that have been discussed, you may jump to the conclusion that the ultimate ending, beating the game in hard mode under 2 hours, would hybrid these 2 endings together: Wario and the bunny girl ride home as Demon Head paddles, right? Wrong! The ending for rushing through the Awazon in 2 hours or less, with all the treasures in your pockets... is simply the bunny girl ending again. So this brings the defining fact into the picture: Demon Head and the bunny lady have never been on the same screen together, despite the genie bottle being present in all endings. Which leaves only one logical conclusion...
Due to Wario's impeccable speed, Demon Head became the bunny lady after defeat.
All I can say is: good for her!
