Warioware (Ashley Halloween) 3DS Theme debuts in Japan

Its... I mean its cute but... is anyone else scared? I mean, we know last Wario game was shit, and when Nintendo makes a shit game it blames it on the franchise not being popular enough. I'd be happy for Wario Ware getting attention but it feels like they wanna retcon them into Ashley games now? I mean if they give her her own gang and make her the focus of the merchandising... what exactly makes her part of the wario games...?

If she takes over can we have wario land back i mean

Not in the slightest. Warioware seems to be Ninty's designated Tech Demo game now. Coming out early in a console's lifespan, acting to show off the gimmicks of the hardware. Touched had...the Touch Screen, Smooth Moves had motion controls....heck, interviews say that Game and Wario is literally made (partly) of repurposed mini-games meant to be included with the system, and were rebranded when they couldn't make a new IP around them. I have confidence that Warioware's not gonna die anytime soon.

Now, if the NX launch window doesn't include Wario? Slight panic is allowed.

i used to be on the "warioware is deeeeeeaaaaaad" train, but nodaway I'm not so sure. Infact, I'm downright optimistic. Here's why:

1: In the Iwata Asks for G&W, Goro Abe says they gave it a different name because they didn't want people to confuse it for a regular WW game. So evidently they don't consider it representative of the series.

2: G&W is a Wii u game, and pretty much ever franchises beside Mario saw massive drops, so I think the suits are not-stupid enough to consider that before axing franchises. While G&W did notably more poorly than other first party games, it was released early in the system's life, before quote-unquote system-selling games like Mairo 3D World and MK8 came out. And it did outsell Wind Waker HD in Japan according to one sales tracker, which may count for something????

3: The current merchandising push. even if it's largely on the back of ashley. You don't see dead francises like f-zero or mother promoted like that.

I'd say the bigger obstace is that there's no obvious input method to take the franchise to (while patents hint the NX will have funky scrolling wheels instead of regulartriggers, that's not really something you can build a full game around). Yoshio Sakamoto is the guy who greenlight(ed?) the games, and as the interviews I collected here shows, he had strong ideas about how SPD1 games need to be totally different from each other and that they can't just make "Wario Ware II" with different microgames. But now that he's seemingly out of the picture, then perhaps...

many poorly written words

another reason why i'm confident is that nintendo gave the chibi-robo series four "chances" despite the fact that literally None of his games were commercially successful. while every ww game until DIY did well

^that reminds me

In other news the theme is now out in Europe:

It's pretty cool, the artwork is nice, the music is catchy and the stuffed bunnys on the Touchscreen even tilt their heads depending on how much of your software you have on display at once (you know the option on the upper right of the Touchscreen), which is a cute little touch.

Nothing, they removed the voiceclip completely with no replacement, which I expected to be honest.
It's not surprising considering the 8-bit Samus theme has sounds from the FDS version and these were kept for all regions it seems even though the NES version had different sounds.

I bought it as soon as I woke up.

Still bummed that they didn't bother putting in an English clip for the sleep mode opening, but at least we HAVE the thing.
