Impossible, no way Wario died because of covid, he'd have used it as a power-up.

Perhaps, especially because even Wario isn't immune to viruses, unlike to bacteria, which he simply eats (hence his marble white teeth despite all the XXL packagings of garlic crisps and whatnot), he too might catch the Mexican Beer Syndrome and be transformed into Wario-Man when trying to kill the viruses with garlic smell.
