I noticed the Shop section and was curious. What does it do?

Ah it's mostly a mix of visual things and post effects. So you can change how your post looks, make your signature look fancier, change your name, etc by buying items.

Meanwhile the icon like items exist purely as cosmetic collectables that should appear on your profile.
