Why do you hate DLCs in videogames? If DLCs don't exist, companies would sell the same game again but with more playable characters at the price of a new game. I hope the topic about Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV and Ultra Street Fighter IV doesn't happen again, that Capcom sold again the same videogame but with more content, making the previous prequel useless.
DLCs are important because they allow more content to be added to a finished video game and because they allow the cost of the total content of the video game to be reduced to pay for and buy the rest of the content with DLCs (which is what should happen, in case it doesn't).
DLCs themselves aren't the problem
It's DLCs that lock 50% of the game behind a paywall and call it an "expansion"
Also I like enhanced versions of games, gives you more incentive to just wait a while after the game comes out, as long as you don't get Street Fighter 2 AND Super Street Fighter 2 AND Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, you should be fine. For example, I love Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, it's an objective upgrade over vanilla Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. Let's see, upgraded HUD, menus, new stage, new characters, such as Ghost Rider, Strider Hiryu, Rocket Raccoon and Phoenix Wright, and of course, Vergil. Although I do prefer vanilla MvC3's music.
Take for example, MvC3's result screen theme vs UMvC3's result screen theme
MvC3
UMvC3
If it's a bonus that the developpers worked on after the release of the game, it's fine but if it's a part of the game locked behind a pay wall then that's a shady buisness practice in my book.
Basically a game should never release with a DLC imo. The DLC should always come out as a bonus after the release of a game.
I don't necessarily hate DLC, but like wrestling games....if there are people that should be on the base game....they should be on the base game and not extra.
