Personally, I'm not a fan of most of the fan fics I've seen. Too much shipping between characters that make no real sense, like 9 Volt and Kat/Ana.

Or damn near everyone and Ashley. Yeah. Red and Ashley as a couple? Kind of gross. Ashley and Mike? Please pass the brain bleach...
 
Fan Fiction.net is basically the very definition of Sturgeon's Law; aka 99% of everything is crud/crap/whatever.

Namely that the more... specific the thing you're after, the rarer something decent that matches said description is. WarioWare (and Wario in general) is a depressingly unpopular/cult series in general, so the ratio is something like 80 bad works and 5 good ones, rather than the say, 10,000 bad works and 2000 good ones that Mario might have.
 
Kind of, but that doesn't really meant they're only Ashley fans. Any character (especially popular ones) gets some disturbing shipping setups in fan fiction.

Like... Mario x Kamek. Yes, apparently that exists. Or giant squid X Hogwarts Castle (yes, some in Harry Potter fandom ship the BUILDING with other characters and buildings). Or... brace yourselves, it's kind of scary...

Umbridge X Margaret Thatcher. Apparently that exists, according to TV Tropes...

And it goes on. Legolas X Treebeard/Treebeard X Bill the Pony, Link X Random Table (wtf), Epona X Link or (omg this sounds disturbing)... Voldemort X Pikachu.

I guess we should be lucky we don't see shipping between say, Ashley and Cractus the way some fans think...

It hasn't been updated for two years thought, so it will likely remain unfinished...

The idea is interesting, but I worry that the writer would make Toad win, so it may be for the best.

As for the bad slash fics, thankfully many are just meant to be jokes.

Maybe, but I wouldn't be suprised if the whole thing was just a ploy, set up by Katsini all along,forcing Toad and Wario to team up.

I haven't read any good fan fics on fanfiction.net, but I read a few good ones on other sites. Can't remember where exactly, but I was always a tad amused by a fan fic that had Snake (from Metal Gear Solid) going through Ocarina of Time (in Link's place).
 
I remember when I talked to dad about video games. I'm going to say this at the risk that someone, somewhere might decide to actually write a serious fanfic.

I remember talking about Luigi's Mansion, and how Ashley could appear in a sequel since she's the "Girl next door living in the haunted mansion" (this was before Dark Moon was released. Spoiler Alert: No Ashley). Predictably, dad had no idea what on Earth I was even talking about, and came up with the idea that Ashley could be Luigi's daughter.

I corrected him, but I wonder if this idea could work well in a story that refused to take itself seriously. Sadly, now that I said it, it'll be probably be used in a fanfic that takes itself too seriously.

Not to mention I'm a crappy writer. I still regret writing that Secret Santa fic.
 
Ashley in a Luigi's Mansion game? That doesn't actually seem that far fetched. And yes, it could definitely work well in fan fiction. I mean, if I'm using Ashley as a boss in a Mario platformer (see the Mario's Nightmare Quest thread), then her as an opponent or character in Luigi's Mansion fan fic or fan games could work pretty well.

Maybe someone should suggest it to this guy...
