Yes. I'm that Koopaul.
I noticed that more and more video games are being played online. It's gotten to the point that some video games don't even have the option to play offline with friends.

Nintendo seems to be the last company to make games that can be played locally.

What about you guys? Do any of you play games locally with friends or family?

Not as often as I'd like to, thanks to often conflicting schedules, but if there's a chance me and mah buds always take advantage of it, nothing goes over a good round of multiplayer Mario Party, as far as I'm concerned and it wouldn't be the same online.

That's too bad. Nintendo has some great multiplayer games out there. I'm worried that because less and less people are playing locally that Nintendo might ditch it just like many other companies have done.

And you're right, Mario Party wouldn't be the same online. I kind of feel the same about Mario Kart and Smash. Sure they have online, but a room full of friends and some pizza is the best experience.

It is sad that so many creators abandoned offline multiplayer option, but I have a feeling the Nintendo Switch will make it a bit more popular again, but I don't expect too much of that.

Snipper Clips is a step towards couch multiplayer so hopefully we see more small titles like that. I have hope that we do and games like Mario Party and Mario Kart gotta have it out of tradition but overall i see it dying out.

With the system coming with two controllers and the adverts constantly promoting bringing this system around and sharing the experience with people you meet, it seems like Nintendo still wants to keep the tradition alive... But I wonder why it was dieing to begin with? Are people less social than they used to be? Everything seems to be done through electronics these days. It reminds me of WALL-E.

I'm probably being over dramatic.

Yes.
I enjoy playing Re-Volt split-screen with my brother. I also play other games, like Mario Kart Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U with him from time to time.
Sometimes when a friend comes over, we play Bubble Bobble, which is always really fun and exciting, even if the friend isn't as skilled or experienced of a gamer as I am.

I think the reason is that the rise of the internet has given developers much more possibilities when it comes to multiplayer, and sacrificed the offline multiplayer option in exchange. Because of this, many modern gamers aren't used to playing together offline anymore, what contributes to the popularity of online playing.

My friend and I sometimes play games together. We usually play his PS2 or 360 together. The games we play the most are like Tekkan tag or Rainbow Six or whatever : p We also sometimes play Terraria together too. And we used to spend alot of time playing NES emulaters on his computer, I actually miss doing that : p

I like couch co-op games a bunch. Oh and CMV and I play games together when were together, too. We usually make plans on what games to play together and junk, haha. Hes alot of fun to be around : p

I dont care for online gaming all that much. I would if it were a friend, but honestly, Id rather just BE with them playing a game together. I dont care that much for online gaming : p
