Over on Discord, someone pointed out that the internal names for Wario Land 4's enemies could be found in the Nintendo Gigaleak files. And, after eventually tracking down said files, I can now confirm this to be true.

Yeah, it's kind of just a meta thing that's not supposed to be taken seriously. Though I've seen a theory that WarioWare takes place in the future and that in that future all the stories of heroes like Mario have been adapted into games.
