    Eh, I think we're all a lot more forgiving of questionable game design decisions when we're kids. Like yeah something akin to Big Rigs or Superman 64 is still going to be awful for us, but something with a few rough edges, questionable design...

    Oh yeah I saw that video. And to be honest... I agree with him here. The game itself has some good ideas, with the graphics, music, characters and story being excellent all-round. It's just the broken touch screen controls and obnoxious...

    Okay that's a pretty neat easter egg! Don't see too many blatant Wario Land references in indie games, at least outside of Wario Land successors like Pizza Tower and Antonblast.

    Given all the other references, it feels like it wouldn't be surprising if it was a deliberate tribute. Feels like they're referencing spinoffs in more subtle ways.
