Seems we have some more info: Peardian said he likely got confused with an unused song from the game Little King's Story being on that game's official website, and associated this mystery file with Wario Land the same way. And this old YouTube...

I think it was a pause sound from one of Konami's Goemon games. But yeah, it was clearly chosen to sound semi convincing in context.
