Saw this post on Supper Mario Broth and thought it was kinda interesting:
Apparently, exactly one sample used in Wario Land 4 is stored at a higher quality level than the rest. That's fascinating to me.
Bonus points for @Weario and @ShyGuyXXL...
The run up to the final boss felt very sudden, like as if there was plenty of the game left before reaching the end. On the contrary, the final boss was really good.
Other than the Koopalings, there wasn't that much to write home about Paper Jam...
Paper Jam's a weird game, since mechanically it's probably the height of the series, but aesthetically and character wise it's basically devoid of all charm. Everyone seems even more like an asshole than usual for a Mario RPG, which is kinda...
Personally I have trouble finishing M&L games. I own everyone of them except for Brothership but only finished Starsaga. Not that the other games are bad, I just always ditch my playthroughs.
I was hoping this was just fatigue from Dream Team, but after trudging through some more... Paper Jam really does stink a lot. There's such a cynical edge to the little writing that isn't made funny at all by how stock and standardized everything...
I second this concept. Sarasaland is sort of a parallel Mushroom Kingdom, Wario being a parallel Mario in many ways... it makes the most sense to me for Diamond City to be a more modern "tourist trap" locale there.
The game is apparently 95% decompiled, which means soon it should be way easier to modify the game or port it to other systems:

So, anyone else excited for this? I'm now picturing how crazy Wario Land...
That's a really neat detail I never even noticed. Always fun to see easter eggs in how video game music is setup, reminds me of the ghost house theme from Mario Galaxy and 3D Land having the first notes spell out DEAD:
Gonna be blunt, I've always found it kinda weird how many people seem so obsessed about getting credited for things ripped from games. Like, you didn't make it. Shouldn't the original company or developer get the credit instead?
If anyone wants...
I moreso agree. On one hand I like to commend people as a courtesy who did a bit of work to get something that I'm using for free... on the other hand, sprite ripping is strictly a nonprofit hobby, and it is monumentally easier to rip/recreate...
Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but it may be worth reiterating...
The original Wario Land came off the heels of Mario's latest 2D platformer for 14 years, Super Mario Land 2, and in many regards it tries to subvert the...
