Ah I understand now. Rejecting conventions would be fitting for a game starring unconventional characters like this, just not sure if a modern game design studio would be brave enough to design a story like that... but it is very imaginative and ambitious and I would like to see such challenges...

Finally got Rivals of Aether for the holidays. I don't gel with most fighting games, but when I'm playing as Hotel Mario and thinking up characters to design and add to the workshop myself, it's hard to get heated over!

I mostly prefer the less abrasive Wario as well. I think him being greedy and selfish is still integral to his character, but seeing that he actually enjoyed the adventure when it came to finding the Luxeville pot is very sweet. I always found that "Meh. Why?" moment in GiT particularly odd...

This is a real cool concept!! I love the idea of an Ashley/Waluigi game pulling from other Mario series; makes it feel appropiately campy for characters that are from spinoffs, and tight action with snappy writing to fill in blanks as you describe could balance that out to not make it too...
