And yeah I did nearly forget VB Wario Land. That's fixed now.
gonna go with WL4. S-Hard was pretty intense, and It was damn satisfying killing CatBat by bouncing on his head repeatedly 
Even though WL3 is tied with 4 as my favourite, the bosses stressed the crap outta me! You mess up once, and then you need to climb or swim all the damn way back to try again.

If Wario World's an option there's no contest from me. Plenty of strange encounters with high skill ceilings that don't make me feel like I'm waiting for the boss to become vulnerable, like a certain septuple of turtles.
Limited to just the Land games, I'd go with 4. II and 3 have some great ones, but a lot of them are very limited by the games' mechanics.
