What do you think is going to be Nintendo direction moving forward in regards of console crafting? Do you think they are going to be more conventional or stick to what "people knew them for" aka "gimmicky console"

Well yes, those for sure. But a new gameplay style in general. The first two games had Mario style powerups in the form of caps, plus mostly linear levels. The second two were more puzzle and exploration based, with no way to die outside 3's final boss fight. The last two games had the gimmick of needing to run back to the start after reaching the end, and the level changing on the return.

The next game needs to come up with its own twist on the formula.

Gonna be honest, I see them playing it safe for a bit. It's very hard to go back from the Switch/Switch 2 model, especially given how much time and money it saves them on developing games (due to not needing to make separate games for handheld and home console). Nintendo probably likes not needing to spend effort on twice as many games.
