God I hate those no social media laws in places like the UK...

Honestly, while I prefer forums to social media, and feel like there are definitely some issues with kids getting free reign on social media and AI chatbots, this is not the way to deal with them.

It just hurts internet privacy and anonymity, and makes it worse for anyone in an abusive household or with families that can't understand their political or social views. Most of my friendships were made through meeting people online and joining communities there, and I feel for anyone affected here.

Still, as far as I know Wario Forums isn't affected, and I have no plans to change anything regardless of what happens. This site will not require age verification, ever.

There was this site I loved called Chore Wars, it was fantasy themed and your household was your party, and you could record your chores to gain EXP points, make up monsters, create rewards and item drops and a bunch of other cool stuff and make it as competitive as you want. I made mine completely Wario themed and it was so much fun but unfortunately the site got shut down worldwide because it was a UK site and there were new internet laws

Though I don't mind these rules being enforced onto things like AI chatbots or erotic sites because these things are genuinely a cancer to society imo and would be better if they straight up didn't exist, enforcing them on basic social media like YT is definitely a very bad move. We absolutely need to find a way to protect children but this is not the way as said above.

People will say that it should be the parents' responsibility (which it is) but it's much more easier to bypass parents watch than people think, and even then children are the adults of tomorrow, you can't just ignore the many danger that are present for them and say "Not my children, not my problem".

Either way, it's great to know Wario Forums won't be affected by this. I just hope that it won't get enforced upon CM30 legally. I have no idea how these things work tbh.

Some issues being kids organizing bullying campaign on social medias, being exposed to ads promoting dubious substances/practices, to sects/echo chambers. There's an inherent problem with virtual spaces that let you do things, see anything, and contact with anyone in a fraction of a second. Before it was less of a problem because you had to make the effort as a kid to go with real strangers and grown-ups, knowing what your parents said about them. Now you're not even sure if the familiar face you're seeing on screen is from someone real or a bot ... If we let them go on those globalized networks, we have to make them learn very early how it's a nasty place plagued with resentful people, idiots, conmen, publishers that prey on others.

On a side note : kids naturally have none of the "political and social views" you're talking about CM30, but they sure got those rebellious instincts that can direct them to some random rally of the internet where they get those views (left or right, I'm not discriminating). And if you're a victim of abuse from your family or someone else, there are specific phone numbers/platforms dedicated to this issue with professionals and such (psychologists, cops, etc). Unless your country doesn't have said support system (or they failed to acknowledge your problem), don't expose yourself on any social medias and forum : there are a bunch of miserable people thriving on drama and public call-outs, pirates using your personal infos to blackmail you ... It's the last place you should think about when you want to talk about your personal problems.

Completely agree. While the people that are rallying to ban social media have had tragic things happen to their children from social media are trying to create these laws, they fail to realize that their children were a special kind of stupid to follow stupid-ass trends on Tik-Tok.
