It's just a personal wish really, I understand why they can't happen and I accept that. I will continue to enjoy the games as they are as they're both still enjoyable and fun games despite their age.
Metroid Prime isn't a remake, it was made in a time when the Metroid franchise hadn't been touched since Super Metroid (in 1994).
The series had stopped on a high note, and never been handled by an outside company, let alone a western one.
Gunpei Yokoi was very proud of his old team with Super Metroid, so Miyamoto decided to honour the memory of his late mentor by being very strict about how this new, outside western company (Retro Studios) handled the old series.
