Why is Wario Land a less popular series than Kirby or Yoshi's Island?

Might also be a symptom of being a primarily mobile series that spun off of Mario Land, and thus might still have that feeling of "lesser handheld spinoff to the main Mario console games" associated with it.

We should petition for a Shake Dimension port for Switch

As you can see here, the game still looks amazing in 1080p on the Dolphin emulator. Might need to pack in some higher resolution versions of the cutscenes, but otherwise...

Why is Wario Land a less popular series than Kirby or Yoshi's Island?

I'd actually argue that the general rule of thumb I mentioned applies to all of those. But yes, there is certainly something to be said about shifting it to "most popular", but, as you've pointed out, that is also often "the first". Either way, I still think the general argument stands for how...

    Foreman Spike

So I was going over old SMB Movie scripts and in an earlier draft of the film, instead of rival Scapelli there's a crooked but good natured construction foreman Eddie, who is sort of Mario's buddy but can also order him around. This guy is clearly an early Spike-analog character that would...

Why is Wario Land a less popular series than Kirby or Yoshi's Island?

I honestly think it has to do with marketing and collective memory. The "more mature than Mario but still cartoony" niche is already occupied by Donkey Kong Country, which is marketed as a more sophisticated platformer series. Wario's early outings were literally just Super Mario Bros style...

We should petition for a Shake Dimension port for Switch

The game's graphics haven't really aged at all, I'm sure it would look as fantastic as ever. Little work for them, just port it over. Introduce a whole new generation to the real Wario, alongside Captain Syrup!

    Foreman Spike

surely it's the other way around, yes?

Wario debuted on the Famicom Disk System maybe?

Ah I should have noted that the original tweet specified that this was a "possibly a third Mario brother in yellow"

Is Maple in Mario Golf Captain Syrup?

Shake It revealed that Syrup's first name is Maple. Is the Maple in Mario Golf actually Captain Syrup enjoying a spot of sport with friends? Would stealthily fit in with the subtle Wario Land references in Mario spinoffs around that time, like Sherbet Land in Mario Kart 64...

Recommended order of playing the games

Calm down people. It's really nothing to get heated over.

Recommended order of playing the games

Release Order is best I think. Nice sense of series progression, as well as technical polish along the way.

Super Smash Bros 4 and Wario; What We Know

Well said, it took more work to animate a new worse move than it would have to tweak the values on an existing attack that was already animated and in the game.

Super Smash Bros 4 and Wario; What We Know

Or, you know, he could do what he's done for the last two and half decades and use the goddamned shoulder barge.

Super Smash Bros 4 and Wario; What We Know

It's especially bullshit because Wario's pretty much the only character to lose series representing moves like this.
