A few glimpses of Wario characters in Mario mangas

Captain Syrup and Denpū on the back of Super Mario Kun issue 12 and on the cover of some other Mario manga I'm not familiar with, I'm still trying to find some pages with them within those mangas thought.

Mario Wiki also has a cool Super Mario Kun gallery with quite a bit of Land 4 content:

Maybe I can dig up something else later when I get home, thought finding something Syrup related at all is already really cool.

It seems like the above the manga series (not Kun the other one) doesn't have a ongoing name and they are just named after the games they are covering.

There's no doubt about it, it's Ultros from the Final Fantasy series!

I'm not too familiar with the Final Fantasy series, so does anyone know for what rhyme or reason would Ultros be in a Wario Land manga? Is it just due to the the tone of that particular page?

If it's truly meant to be Ultros (certainly looks like it) then it's probably just a cameo for the sake of a cameo, I mean later on there's also some EarthBound cameos, that are really only there to be a neat easteregg and quick gag.
