As in, one that isn't a microgame collection, but a different genre or setup entirely?
I know Game & Wario tried some new things, but that game was deeply flawed in many ways, with many of those mini games being mediocre at best and downright terrible at worst.
How could the series potentially move beyond the microgame collection formula here?
Oh I like your idea! There's been a whole bunch of Wariowares, console gimmicks, and modes for so many years and I remember saying I think it'd be cool if they added a point/scoring system to freshen up the formula, but I never considered a different formula entirely, and it's got me thinking about what Warioware is at its core
I'd say Get It Together is a good example of deviating from the formula, even though it's still microgames, the microgames are made to fit as a platforming genre, so they're less affected by console gimmicks like touching the screen or tilting the system or moving your body, and more like the genre influencing the microgames than the gimmick. There's also different characters with different difficulty ratings for each microgame which I think is the coolest thing ever and extremely different
I think the fundamentals would be keeping it fast paced and maybe versatile as both a single player or party game, but that doesn't mean it's gotta be microgames all the time
My idea would be making Warioware a board game! Even though it would still use microgames, the main point would be that they're a secondary form of gameplay to complement the main board gameplay. Mario Party uses minigames at the end of the round that can take a while, but we ain't about that, we're about the even smaller rapid blast microgames that could show up at any time and are so quick they never overstay their welcome! No need for toad to explain what's going on either, microgames don't have tutorials
