Favorite Cartoons?

Im a 90s kid, so most of my choices would be from that period of time : p

Im a big fan of hey arnold, obviously. I tend to really enjoy slice of life shows. I dunno if adult orientated animation counts, but Im also a very big fan of home movies.

I used to really like the wild thornberries growing up, and a picked up a dvd with a few episodes from the show at a dollar tree, and it reminded me of how great that show actually is.

I also like the zane-y and far out cartoons, too. Ive always been a big fan of shows like angry beavers and cat dog.

I dont like too many more modern day cartoons, but Ive enjoyed a few of them. I really liked regular show, used to watch it with my nephew alot, haha. Im not like a big super fan of it, but I did enjoy some of adventure time. I also had to spend alot of time in a hospital last summer, and while I was there I saw alot of the loud house. I thought Id hate the show, but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit, so Id give it a chance.

Nice choices! I love the 90s Nickelodeon cartoons..they all had such great animation. I'm also with you on the "slide of life" shows. Home movies is a great show. Also agree with you about modern day cartoons.. The ones I've seen are really dumbed down and tend to have really cheap computer animation instead of hand-drawn.

Have you watched "Ahhh Real Monsters!!!"?

Yeah, I generally lean towards 90s nickelodeon. Like I agree that early 2000s cartoon network was amazing too, some of my favorite cartoons, like ed edd and eddy and courage come from that era. But I still feel like 90s nick is where cartoons really picked up.

And yeah I feel that way about modern cartoons too. I generally dont even understand the jokes in alot of them, like yeah I said I like the goofy ones too, but sometimes the more modern ones just feel like a bunch of loud nonsense. Would agree that they feel lazy and dumbed down.

And yeah, actually when we were kids my mom was a big fan of ah real monsters, haha. Shed almost always watch it with us.

There were a lot of niche cartoons outside of the 3 main television channels, especially had a bunch more selection in Toon Disney than you had on the regular Disney channel which had Darkwing Duck a great action show which parodied a lot of super hero cartoons at the time with the same feel as Freakazoid.

Speaking of Freakazoid a lot of shows I grew up that included these Spielberg era series like Animaniacs and Pink and the Brain which for it's time it wasn't unheard of to have a bit of adult humor into them including satirical events as well as showing presidents and historical events shown in them plus Pinky is best rat.

Adult shows from it's time were pretty good too such as Drawn Together another parody of sitcom shows, plus the veggietales get messed up in one ep which was funny, loved seeing a lot of these shows with my brother growing up and I feel that a lot of shows now seem to go for the weird whacky style more so than before.

I liked phineas and ferb, it was a cute cartoon. Its not a favorite, but I can see it being a favorite of someone who grew up with it

Kablam! was a good show that included a bunch of other skits and also the very manly Meltman who is my spirit animal.

MY CURRENT FAVORITES:

Courage The Cowardly Dog (an actually scary version of Scooby-Doo, mixed with all of the best things about Ren & Stimpy and Looney Tunes)

Rocko's Modern Life (basically a much smarter and less overrated version of Ren & Stimpy, as well as an overall classier version of Spongebob)

South Park (extremely pretentious and often comes across as blatant anti-Republican propaganda, but when it hits, my GOD does it hit)

Futurama (also basically a much smarter and less overrated version of the Simpsons, and I can definitely see where a lot of Rick & Morty came from)

Rick & Morty (just from what I've seen of it so far, it's easily one of THE greatest comedy cartoons to come out in a long time)

Castlevania Anime (not even going to spoil anything about this; just go and watch it ASAP, then tell me that games can't be an art form)

Earthworm Jim (clearly one of the only actually good video game cartoons ever, as well as being so blatantly better than the games that it isn't even funny; the show itself, on the other hand, is one of the funniest things I've seen in my life and is just SUCH a phenomenal satire of superhero shows)

Batman: The Animated Series (The Dark Knight was great and all, but this makes it look like an absolute joke, enough said)

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (also way better than the actual Avengers film series; shame it had such a short run though)

Looney Tunes (slapstick perfected, enough said)

PREDICTIONS FOR UPCOMING FAVORITES:

Bojack Horseman (hopefully, it actually does turn out to be the "perfect full-on adult evolution upon Rocko's Modern Life" that it is hailed as)

Archer (if this doesn't look insanely classy to you just from looking at it, then you seriously need your eyes checked)

The Venture Bros (basically the "underrated" to Rick & Morty's "overrated"; also came first between the two)

Death Note (Light and L, enough said)

Neon Genesis Evangelion (if it has a freaking 100 PERCENT review-score average on Rotten Tomatoes, then it had damned better be great)

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS REGARDING SHOWS THAT REALLY AREN'T THAT GREAT:

Avatar: TLA (is an extremely generic anime series that technically doesn't even qualify as a real anime; its movie adaptation doesn't help either)

Ren & Stimpy (is stupid and boring, relies far too much on shock value and gross-out humor, and absolutely does not deserve to overshadow masterpieces like the aforementioned Rocko and Courage the way that it does; also, its creator is a pretentious, bigoted prick just like its fanbase)

Basically any other 1990s Nicktoon besides Rocko (pretty much just vapid sitcom schlock at best; that clearly hasn't changed over the years either)

Spongebob Squarepants and The Simpsons (Seasonal Rot incarnate, and even their early seasons were honestly pretty bland to say the least)

Invader Zim (is basically "LOL, so random" and "OMG, look at me, I'm SO FREAKING EDGY" incarnate, and is also very poorly written overall)

Recently I have found myself re-watching some fragments from old cartoon shows that I used to watch, and one of the shows that I used to really like, but completely forgot about was Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers, a cartoon series that was from way before my youth (It aired from 1989 to 1991; I was born in 1998), but still watched a lot, because luckily at Disney they were kind enough to do reruns of their older shows in an era when online and on-demand watching were largely unheard of (This is also why I grew up with Recess, if anyone still remembers that show.)
Though I never watched the complete series, I always liked to see Chip and Dale in an action-adventure setting, and by coincidence I found the complete series on Youtube lately, which of course, I started watching immediately.

Pretty sure even those that never watched Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers will at least remember the intro song:

This was probably my favourite scene:

Watching these older series also made me appreciate their animation styles more. Don't get me wrong, the more recent Disney Universe cartoons like the modern Duck Tales incarnation look nice too, (And the Rescue Rangers' cameo in this series was a nice touch.) but there's something about those older animation aesthetics that makes them look much better, even on low-quality media like uploaded Youtube videos.

Man there's a lot of good shows on here. xD
For me, I was growing up at around the time shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and SpongeBob we're all at its prime. For me thought, my favorite would have to go to SpongeBob SquarePants for entertainment value alone, I just had that kind of humor that was funny to me back then and it's just funny to me now. Not so much the latest stuff, though. Around seasons 1 through 4, and I stopped watching the show all together at around the 5th season, but I still enjoyed to revisit the show once in awhile for when I ever need a nostalgia hit.

My favorites are WordGirl, a cool superhero cartoon with WordGirl....she teaches people what words mean....all while fighting crime, villains such as Dr two brains, Mr big, Chuck the evil sandwich making guy, Granny may, and more.

PJ Masks, three kid superheros that wear animal suits to battle kid villains like Romeo....a mean kid scientist that invents things to defeat the PJ Masks, Luna Girl, a girl villain that has moon powers, and Night Ninja, a kid in a ninja costume.

Cars 2.

Toy Story.

Wild Kratts, two brothers that know all about animals, and rescue animals from villains, and there is the kratt brothers's friends two girls and a boy that is a scaredy-cat, the main girl is Aviva....a scientist that invents things to help the brothers.

Sonic X.

Gravity Falls, just SOME episodes.

well i mean ...
I don't like Cartoon Network, their few drawings in general are rare, but I like some drawings like "The owl house" "Spongebob" or in a funny way "sanjay and craig" and "ren and stimpy"
I give the cartoon network drawings a "C +"

If I were to choose which cartoons I enjoyed as a child, they would have to be Tom and Jerry, Spongebob, Ed Edd n Eddy, Jimmy Neutron, and many of the earlier Cartoon Network shows.
