If Shake It had it's own WL3...

...what would you have liked to see?

I got this idea while writing a response over on this topic: http://warioforums.com/index.php?threads/wario-land-2-3-sounds-music-similarities.1926/

But what do I mean by this?

WL3 was a very direct sequel to WL2. So much so that is was almost like an expansion pack.
Same visuals, just prettier, same sound, same basic gameplay.
Like I said on the other thread, WL3 is to WL2 what Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is to Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland.

So imagine they had done the same thing with Wario Land: Shake it!. Same engine, re-using Wario's sprites, and generally most of the mechanics.
They would've saved a lot of work that way.
But what changes would you have liked to see?

Here's what I'd do:
-Scrap all motion controls besides the shaking (or maybe even that). So no Rocketbuckets, no Subwarine, etc.
-Make throwing work like it did in the previous games, making it much more fluid.
-Actual real water levels with real swimming, aka diving.
-Make enemies as bouncy as in previous games.
-Make the level themes as varied as in WL4.
-Make Syrup the villain again. Naturally, that would mean her underlings return as well. It would be great to see all of them in HD, hand-drawn and animated beautifully.
-Add in more transformations.
Hm... this is sounding more and more like just a copy of WL4... I don't wanna sound like I just want the same game over and over.
So yeah, it would need a gameplay change. But it would have to be something that comes natural and is integrated into the entire game, not just isolated areas. K&TAM had the same main gameplay, but the way you go through the game was entirely different and interesting. And it didn't feel tacked on. However, the motion controlled vehicles in Shake it did feel tacked on.
So yeah, what could they do?

Maybe Wario Land could work with a 2D open world level structure? But then I think it would be better to go back to Wario being unkillable.
Maybe they could make it focus around the transformations themselves. Maybe there could be a mechanic where you can store transformations for later to use them in puzzles? I dunno.
This is sounding more and more like it might as well be an entirely new game, instead of an expansion.

But what what about you?
What changes would you wanna see?

I like how your intention completely changed while writing the post d:p
Good stuff, nonetheless.
I know, I got completely off track and my suggestions became less and less realistic. xD
Maybe it's telling that Shake it had a lot of problems that would need fixing in a direct sequel...
WL2 and Nightmare in Dreamland were already very solid games that didn't need any fixing.

This post probably won't really add much to the discussion but...

I kind of would not want want Shake It to have its own sort of direct sequel since well it already is that for WL4 and I would prefer to see a further evolution for the Wario Land series gameplay.

That being said, I think what I agree with most is that the physics really need to be redone since that was one of my biggest problems with the games is that it just didn't feel right in comparison to the previous 3 games.

I would like to see another game like shake it but i doubt it will ever happen. Notice how all WL styles are always done twice.
VBWL was similar to SML3WL
WL3 was similar to WL2
WLSI was similar to WL4
That being said if they were to do this play style i would want it be be just like WL4 since that one is my favourite.

If a Shake It! sequel (which probably wouldn't be called Shake It! anyway) And they returned more of the original Wario Land elements, I'd totally buy it! :D
I'm already fond of the art style and the soundtracks even more. I think it would also be cool if they added different endings, like Wario Land 2 has.

If a sequel were to happen then I hope Good-Feel(that is if they ever do make a sequel to shake it) would get some one else to compose the music. Don't like Tomoya Tomita's style even with some of the other games he's done the soundtrack with such as Kirby's Epic Yarn didn't sound anything like Wario. Whether a new land or shake it sequel were to happen, they should get a different composer to do the soundtrack.

It'd also be nice if it were a shake it sequel to still keep that fancy cartoonish style it did feel like it fit the wario look.
