Linking the Nintendo games

Bucket Head
Plenty of Nintendo games have shown that they are interconnected with each other, which means every (or almost every) game takes place in the same universe. This thread is basically made to break that down.

No using Smash Bros., of course. Besides being too easy, the characters are supposedly just trophies rather than the actual characters. Same goes for WarioWare, which are just micro-games of Nintendo franchises, and Nintendo Land, an amusement park based on but not actually Nintendo characters.

Notable examples to start us off with:
  • Mario enemies have been seen in multiple Zelda games, such as Chain Chomps in A Link to the Past and Bob-ombs in The Minish Cap. There have additionally been various references to Mario characters in Ocarina of Time alone, such as a picture of Mario in Zelda's Castle and a Bowser emblem on Malon.
    • In The Minish Cap, a mushroom enemy named Puffstool shares the same name as a mushroom enemy from the first Pikmin game.
  • In Super Mario RPG, Link and Samus are both found sleeping in beds in the game, with Samus stating that she's resting up for Mother Brain.
  • The ending of Tetris shows Princess Peach, Pit, Donkey Kong, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Samus, and Link all in one scene together in front of a Russia-esque castle.
  • Kirby has met Samus in Kirby's Dream Land 3 and has had Mario, Luigi, and Birdo witness his fighting at more than one point.
    • Kirby has explicitly fought Master Hand and Crazy Hand in The Amazing Mirror, implying that they are parallel universe versions of (or even the very same) hands fought in Smash Bros.
  • Humans are a confirmed species in the Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and Pokemon series.
    • Miis, while not having been confirmed to be human per say, have appeared in various Mario games.
  • Earth has been an acknowledged planet name in the Mario, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and Pokemon series.
    • Pokemon states that it lives on a different world from the Earth, but has acknowledged Earth continents like South America and Antarctica in in-game PokeDex entries.
    • Pikmin heavily implies that the planet PNF-404 is indeed planet Earth.
    • Kirby 64 has a "star" (which are actually planets) that looks very much like a post-apocalyptic Nuclear winter version of earth.
So... Go nuts! Lets see how far this rabbithole goes...

Well, we all know how Wario Land and WarioWare are linked to Mario. Mario enemies and objects exist in the former, and objects from the former exist in the latter.

And let's not forget Star Fox is linked to Donkey Kong, with that dinosaur in both Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox Adventures. It then shares a character with F-Zero (according to fans anyway), which would theoretically link F-Zero to Donkey Kong and Mario.

Wario appeared in the Starfy games. That means they take place in an area somehow linked to the Wario Land series, and might even take place in the same area as Wario Land 4's levels.

Banjo and Conker appeared in Diddy Kong Racing, so Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, Nuts and Bolts, Grunty's Revenge and Pilot (on the Banjo side) and Conker's Pocket Tales and Bad Fur Day (on the Conker side) are theoretically Nintendo universe games. Banjo also has a video on TV showing a character called Mr Pants, which links into 'It's Mr Pants' on GBA:

Meanwhile, Banjo's goldfish Roystein appeared in more games, namely Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Viva Pinata, linking to them to Banjo and hence Donkey Kong and hence Nintendo:

Additionally, it can be argued that Banjo and Conker now appear in the Xbox version of Minecraft, tying in that to the gaming universe:

This game then adds a bunch more characters as skins, namely:

Characters from Ms Splosion Man
Master Chief (and others) from Halo
Characters from Fables
Characters from Gears of War
The survivors from Left 4 Dead
Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark
Characters from Castle Crashers, Crackdown 2, Skulls of the Shogun, Super Meat Boy, Spelunky, Cobalt, Retro City Rampage, Owlboy and Glorg.
Gordon Freeman and others from Half Life
Chell from Portal
Commander Video from Bit Trip Runner
Ezio from Assassin's Creed
Characters from Borderlands
Characters from the Walking Dead
Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell
Rayman
Characters from Far Cry
Tony Hawk
And Marvel characters, like Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Nick Fury and Iron Man

Other than that, Banjo appeared in Sonic All Stars, which could be used to add the Sonic universe and other Sega franchises to the 'Nintendo' universe.

Donkey Kong was in Punch Out, adding in those characters:

Birdo, Little Mac and others were in Captain Rainbow:

Ossan from Golf, Hikari from Shin Onigashima, Mappo from GiFTPiA, Advance Wars soldiers, the Devil from Devil World, Lip from Panel de Pon, Drake from Chibi Robo and Takamaru appeared here, adding their franchises to the same universe...

The professor guy from Wario Land 4 and Richard from Link's Awakening come from 'For the Frog the Bell Tolls', adding that to the Nintendo world.

Bowser appeared in Sim City, making that 'canon' to the Nintendo world:

Link appeared in Soul Calibur, making that canon as well.

But who else appeared?

Star Wars and God of War are apparently linked to Zelda and Soul Calibur, somehow.

From there, you could go absolutely insane with linking different universes to one another. You could probably link it all to the Simpsons if you wanted to. Or Family Guy. Or Futurama. Or James Bond. Or Harry Potter. Or whatever else.

You may as well say that all gaming and media series ever are linked in some way.

And let's not forget Star Fox is linked to Donkey Kong, with that dinosaur in both Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox Adventures. It then shares a character with F-Zero (according to fans anyway), which would theoretically link F-Zero to Donkey Kong and Mario.
Well F-Zero is not directly linked to starfox, but it refrences fox. There is one character that has a hairstyle that looks like fox' ears and fur and his name is James McCloud (like Fox his father).

^You can find more information on the relationship between the F-Zero and Starfox series here. Although the conclusion is a bit of a fail, it's nice how different Nintendo games have references to each other. I'd much rather it stay like this way than be anything like what you see in comics.
