VB WL: Was this sprite used anywhere?

So I was digging through Virtual Boy Wario Land's files when I found these sprites:

I don't remember seeing this anywhere in the game. Did I miss it? or was it unused?

It resembles the final boss and was located among the credits cutscene sprites. Any ideas?

The Cutting Room Floor doesn't have a page for the game yet.

Nothing like that appears in the game's regular mode (I can't speak for Hard mode). It definitely looks like a cutscene sprite for the Demon Head, perhaps he was originally going to feature in the opening and/or closing sequence. Is he only shown in that side-on position? Or does he have other actions as well?

Nope, those are the only sprites. No other animations or positions. I also saw some flying duck sprites that were different from the ones used in the intro. Maybe it IS just unused.

Nope, it is used. One of the endings you can get in the game has the Demon Head using an oar to paddle Wario's flying carpet through the air, if my memory serves.

I don't remember which ending it was, but I KNOW I saw it.

EDIT: Oh, on the topic of unused things, I discovered three unused tracks in the game's files and the full versions of a few tunes that were cut off in-game.Was part of a OST rip I've been working on and finished recently (which I will upload as soon as I have my real internet up and working again!).

Ok, I'm getting really confused by what the requirements for the best ending are supposed to be. When I beat the regular mode the other day I had ALL treasures, the MAX amount of coins, AND I beat the game under 2 hours (very close but still under 2) but I still only got the carpet without the playboy genie.
So I thought okay, you probably need to beat hard mode for that. ...which I did... and got the bunny.... but now I'm seeing all these playthroughs online where people played normal mode and got the genie.
Can someone explain this?
Is there a different time limit?

Edit: I'm gonna load a savestate, let it sit there for a while and see what happens when I'm over 2 hours.

OOOOOH Looks like you were right, Colonel!

This only happens when you take LONGER than 2 hours. So I presume less than 1 hour gets you the bunny girl and between 1 and 2 gets you ...nothing.
A bit weird that the worst 100% ending is more interesting than the second to worst one.

I didn't expect this to be a thing because the demon genie only had one frame of animation but it turns out he just looks very stiff while he's "rowing".

But wait, that still doesn't explain what the ducks were for...

I am pretty sure that those duck sprites are seen in the game's opening sequence. The sprite with the duck's wings at rest is seen while idle within the lake with Wario (the feet are submerged in the water). And the flying animation is used when the beaver jumps in the scene, and startles them.

No, they are slightly different.

That's what's so weird to me. Why would they need slightly different duck sprites?
