Ok so let's say I make a topic about a potential Wario Cartoon, but there's already a older thread based on that. Now of course I can bump it, but I know Bumping is typically taboo. And with the forums growing every year, it's obvious that a lot of the older threads are going to get left behind in the dust. So I have a question, is making a new thread based on older topics okay? And also what's the stance on random topics? Basically topics that are for fun, rather then having any real discussion value. Like ideas for certain characters or shit like that, are these topics okay, or will I risk getting locked for them? I know the overall site rules but I've yet to really know how threads work? So what are the rules concerning threads and topics themselves, what's fine to talk about and what's not? Or it's it okay to make new threads based on older topics or shit like that? Because I really want to know. Thank you.

The rules for making a thread? Well, I can't be offensive, that's one. It has to be placed in the right category, we don't want topics like "What's your favorite breakfast" in the Wario Land section, for example.
The OP or opening post has to, well, open the subject, the more info you put in it, the better.
And make sure the topic doesn't exist, already, we don't want to duplicate topics.
Other than that, it's fine, I don't think there's any rules, besides that. Of course, it has to be a topic that opens conversation, discussion.

Why is bumping an old thread considered taboo? It's not like you are doing anything that's against the rules.

If you have an idea, you think it might open a discussion, you want to know what others think, open a thread, put your idea out.
Doesn't matter if the discussion goes well or not, as if it's harmful in anyway, the mods are here to make sure this doesn't happen. Usually, topics don't bring in bad conversation, it all depends on who participates and how people react over time.
Feel free to bring in your thoughts on character relations and other interesting topic you might have, I'm sure someone has their own take on the matter.
