We know they're ghostly beings that appear to have once been some sort of plant, condor, rat or cat, or an eggplant like creature in the case of Spoiled Rotten, but what exactly is their background anyway?
Were they turned into their current forms by the Golden Diva or something, like this old school fan art suggests?
Were they created magically or artificially by the Golden Diva as temple guardians?
Or they did they have some other backstory?
Based on what we now know from WarioWare: Move It, I'd say Cractus is part of a species of the same name that have similar abilities as he does in Wario Land 4. I'd also say Spoiled Rotten and its followers are likely the same species as these things:

But that does leave some questions open about the other three. I'm guessing there's a sentient rat species that Aerodent probably belonged to, and the condor species Cuckoo Condor belongs to likely existed elsewhere in that form too. But uh, does that mean the Mario universe has a species of giant cats too? Like Catbat looks a bit too big to be any old kitty, so it must be either a mutant, magically/genetically modified or part of a massive cat species, right?
