Would a WarioWare live-action adaptation work?

I saw someone ask about this on Reddit, and I'm honestly kinda sceptical.

On the one hand, nothing about the series feels too impossible in live-action. Most of the stories are wacky and comedic sure, but they feel like something you could portray in live-action without that much in the way of special effects.

At the same time though, there are some issues here.

Firstly, these feel like storylines that work best in an animated format, and might come across as absolutely ridiculous in live-action (and perhaps not in a good way). The exaggerated expressions and movement in the original series' cutscenes really make them pop, and a live-action version feels like it'd be a bit too muted by comparison. It's like Avatar the Last Airbender in that sense. The live-action versions do somewhat okay costume wise, but they lose a lot of the charm.

Secondly, the character designs and voices feel like something that would be hard to take seriously in live-action. I've seen plenty of WarioWare cosplay pics before, and to be honest, most of them have always felt kinda... off to me. Like I get what they're going for, but the original designs are so exaggerated and cartoonish in terms of things like proportions that they look weird when portrayed by a normal person. It's a problem when trying to portray any sort of Mario character in live-action to be honest; they just don't work in that medium. Their designs either look like something out of the uncanny valley, or come across as ridiculous.

You can 'adapt' the designs to look more realistic I suppose (like the Super Mario Bros Super Show's live-action segments and the old Mario movie did), but then you lose a lot of the charm. As much as I have a sense of nostalgia for the Lou Albano and Bob Hoskins versions of Mario, they definitely don't have the charm that the actual video game versions do.

But yeah, what do you think? Would a live-action WarioWare adaptation work?

Animation, comics, and books are better formats for video game adaptations. Similar to what you said, these live-action adaptations of games and live-action remakes of animated shows/movies just look awkward and uncanny.

A WarioWare adaptation would best benefit from a cartoon or a comic. I wish Nintendo didn't reject Archie Comics' pitch for a Mario comic book series.

I still have a hard time believing they made a live-action Minecraft movie and it was successful enough to get a sequel.
