Need some help with Fraps

I wanted to use Fraps to record a video of Wario Land 4 yesterday, but for whatever reason, Fraps didn't put the yellow FPC over anything. I think it wasn't working correctly. And it wasn't recording anything eather.
Can anyone help me?
Or recommend a different screen recording program?

tryed out cam studio, but it took a while to compress the video, and the end result is just terrible. Low sound quality, and a terrible framerate, you can not tell what is going on

I always use hypercam 2 for things that fraps doesn't work on, but hypercam 2 can't really handle more than 10 frames per second.
