Shantae Thread

Several years after this I had a pretty messy breakup with a woman I was going to marry. It sucked hard and put me in a terrible depression. During this time I didn't do much, but one thing I did do was play a lot of Shantae games. Shantae was such a charming and loveable character in such a well-made game series, that it was pretty much the only thing that made me happy. I just couldn't help but smile at her antics. In a way, Shantae helped get me through a very dark time in my life. So for that reason I will always be a fierce defender and die-hard fan of the series.

That's the power video games can have. Shantae (and Wario and other fictional characters too) have also helped me through hard times. I won't go into detail too much, but I can say that Shantae made me a better person.
You see, fictional people can have just as much impact on your life as real-life people. And I don't care about the fact that video game characters are fictional. In your head they are real, and that's what really matters.

This is why I love her very much.

The charm of both the wonderful series and the lovely half-Genie herself is why I too love the Shantae games to death.
And I'm quite literally with that: unless the series somehow turns to crap (which I think is very, very unlikely) I will be a Shantae fan for life.

Now that the Ultimate Edition is coming closer by the day, what are fellow Shantaerians, especially @JS Shantae looking forward to the most?
For me, it is definitely the costumes, especially the Beach Day outfit, and not only for the cool shades. (But of course the Ninja and Patricia Wagon suits are awesome as well.)

I am also really glad the Ultimate Edition comes with updated box artwork, as it should be.

It's amazing to realise that they were making some of this when Shantae and the Pirate's Curse wan't even released yet, isn't it?

@607 I may be going off-topic here, but I think you too will enjoy these games. They are a combination between shmups (you know, shooting stuff up) and RPG's. The first game, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt can be downloaded for free. (But you may experience problems when you don't have Windows.) The sequel, which is actually a prequel since it takes place before the first game, is Princess Remedy in a Heap of Trouble. Both games are rather short, but the style of an early NES game, along with the simple yet effective soundtrack makes them enjoyable nonetheless.

Dag nabbit! The release date for HGH Ultimate Edition had been re-set to 8. May, and that's only for North America. I hope the other regions will soon follow, so that people all around the world can experience the joy of this marvellous game.

I will be waiting. I... will... be... waiting... :wargrr:

Bummer ain’t it? Aw well. At least we can use the new costumes! They’re adorable and awesome. And much more of an actual 3rd DLC as opposed to just a cosmetic change...they each come with their own story, abilities, collectibles, etc.
It’s been a wild ride. Half-Genie Hero has truly been the game that keeps on giving. A year and a half after it’s release, and we’re still hyped for it’s upcoming release! Based Shants.
Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait a decade for Shantae 5.

Great minds think alike! And I can’t think of greater minds than the creators of Shantae and Princess Remedy.

Hey, maybe we’ll get a new Princess Remedy to fill the Shantae void sometime, eh?

Like the impatient fanboy I am, I already watched playthroughs of all the costume modes online, and they look really cool and fun, though I have my thoughts on Shantae's somewhat out of character behaviour in Beach Mode, and the ending of Ninja Mode.
Other than that, I'm really satisfied with how everything turned out. :shantspin:

Would be great, but secretly I hope the Princess Remedy series will raise out of its obscurence and become another successful indie series. (We all know it's possible; just look at how Shantae started out, and how much it has grown over the years.) If so, we might even get a crossover! Or at least a game with both of them playable.

I was browsing through some more Shantae stuff on the Wiki, and there I found this:

Just the other day another load of interesting pre-release and concept stuff got uploaded. This is also of interest.
