Generic Enemies you like

Goombas aren't the only enemies of the Mario universe that I like. Another species of enemies I like are... Boos!

They try to be scary, but they are pretty bad at it. They are more afraid of Mario than Mario is of them. And Boos can even be considered cute. But not all of them...

Not entirely unrelated, the bats from the Shantae games are really annoying for their adorable look.

I recently played New Super Mario Bros. Wii again, and I thought Urchins to be very likable. You know, these ones:

They are as innocent as enemies can get. They have absolutely no intention to harm Mario, but the cruel thing is, as you kill one they sink to the bottom and stay there. Dead. Unlike most other enemies that almost immediately disappear when you hit them.
Pretty dark when you think about it.

Some attack in different ways, such as jumping, kicking rugby balls or throwing baseballs in Super Mario World. They're pretty fun to use when making custom levels for Super Mario World, their varying attack patterns has a lot of potential to be interesting enemies to get through. It's such a shame they're not in Super Mario Maker.
I was glad to see them in Paper Jam and 3D World. I hope Nintendo brings them back in the next 2D Mario game.

Well, there was that one kind of enemy in MediEvil that sticks out to me, one that manages to be especially eerie even after 20 years: in the level "The Gallows Gauntlet", there are these corpses impaled on giant wooden spikes that snap free from the ancient wood once you get close enough-- mostly. They'll charge at you to try to impale you on the same spike they were killed with, and they're pretty fast-- it's a pretty bigass spike too, but that's not the part that makes them stick out to me.
Because they're so fast and do a lot of damage (but then, they are goddamn rail drivers on legs), I like to get close-ish, then fire at them with ranged weapons. Thing is, though, since you're out of their sight range, you get to sit there and watch them try to pull the spike out of them. They try and try, never tiring-- they can't, they're dead-- but it just doesn't work. They let off this one pained, tight-throated grunt every time they try to free their torso of the rail, over and over, this high-pitched moan, reverberating off the valley walls again and again until you put them out of their misery. I'm pretty sure it's one of the loudest sounds any one generic enemy in that game makes, and the fact that it's just one sound byte being pitch-shifted somehow makes it even more eerie... I hate these guys, but that's why I think they're so great.

And then there are the enemies from Tak 2, which all stick out to me.

There are the Nightmare Creatures:
Imps, which are about as mook as you can get;
Stalkers (pictured), which slowly approach you, but become increasingly intangible as they do so, making sneak attacks or ranged stuff a must;
"Devious Head" is the best way to describe the appearance of these floating brain-esque things which like to float towards you and then suck up your health by attaching themselves to your head;
Anglers, which disappear and hide amidst a small group of Mana Spheres, which look like its bulb antenna;
These purple guys (Lurkers?) that turn invisible & shoot purple laser volleys out of their gaping wrists;
Weird buzzsaw-like quadropus dudes that will knock you off your feet and down into the abyss;
Bigger versions of the same, but they lack faces, and will act as a spawner for Brain head dudes until aggro'ed;
Combination Lurker-Anglers, which because of the Angler aspects of it ends up ironically being easier to kill than a regular Lurker;
Pit Fiends, giant things hiding beneath the ground, in large, Dixie cup logo-shaped, unfolding holes, with tentacles that either are electrified baseball-bat-with-nail or launch fireballs from between four pronged holes. Like to eat the rifts needed to escape the Dream World.

Then there are the Woodies:
Woodie Soldiers, which try to smack and poke you with crudely made spears;
Woody Shamen, which use green incantations to either fire beam volleys at you or resurrect other, fallen woodies-- prove troublesome with more than one present;
Woody Warriors (pictured), which swing these huge wooden flails the size of tractor tires around. Their weak spot is in back of them, when they'll swing too hard and get their flail stuck in the ground. However, pro tip, if you combine Juju with the double jump+kick (or in other words, L1+X+X+Square), the resulting shockwave will travel beneath and obliterate them;
Woody catapults (piloted by normal Woodies but count as separate guys), which are animal hide stretched over a wooden frame, featuring cool curved horns, and a catapult that packs a lot of punch. Tak even pilots one at the Pandemonium Gates later on in the game.

Then there are the Gunkies, these floating creatures that look friendly and marketable, but turn out to be the reason the Planetarium is covered in the rocky, crusty shit that's been siphoning all the power: "Power Parasites", as Dave calls them.
Oh, and Pins and Needles, as well: one's a fat bag'a sawdust from da Bronx, the other's a wooden, bamboo, befeathered, effigy, thing with his mouth sewn shut.
In Skies of Arcadia
Never actually played the game, but can I just say,
