I think it depends on whether a third party developer can come up with a compelling pitch for Nintendo. I think Renegade Kid who developed Mutant Mudds tried to pitch a remake of VB Wario Land on the 3DS to Nintendo but Nintendo declined. Though that might have to do with it being Virtual Boy...

I do think there is a decent amount of characterization within the game's collectables as well as some of the websites. WarioWare isn't exactly a series that needs deep characters but if they wanted to do more with the characters I think there is some meat on these characters.
