I think it depends on whether a third party developer can come up with a compelling pitch for Nintendo. I think Renegade Kid who developed Mutant Mudds tried to pitch a remake of VB Wario Land on the 3DS to Nintendo but Nintendo declined. Though that might have to do with it being Virtual Boy...
