How about both like in many of the 3D Sonic games. The main villain is different for each game, but then you got Syrup as a reoccurring rival to Wario who he is constantly butting heads with for one reason or another. -

Dunk's fights are actually so creative and cool, I want him in every single Wario platformer and he'd always be playing a new sport.

I can go either way tbh. Rudy or Captain Syrup returning as the main villian would be rad, but a new villian would be just as cool, as long as it's done right. Wouldn't mind seeing some new bosses while also seeing some classic ones brought back...
