I finished Mega Man X1 like 2 days ago:
I like it but I don't love it. It's a pretty good game and I like the upgrade mechanic but they kinda make the game unbalanced I think. Once you know, where the upgrades are what are the boss weaknesses, the Maverick stages become ridiculously easy. At least with the classic Mega Man games the platforming was still there to make you struggle even if you had all the weapons but here it's just not the case. I also don't really like the Sigma Fortress stages. That being said, the controls of this game are pretty fun and the visuals and music are really good. My favorite track is Sting Chameleon's stage. The level design for the Maverick stages are also very fun, regardless of if you got the upgrades or not. I'll definitely play it again.
I also tried out MMX2 and I gotta say I don't like it as much as X1 for now. I beat like 3 Mavericks in it and it feels too much like X1 to me. Even the pause menu and title screen look almost identical to X1. I still like it but it feels like more of a DLC and less of another game for now. The stage locales do look even better though, I'll give it that. Then again, I haven't beaten the game so maybe it gets a lot better afterwards, I don't know.
