    Wario Speedruns.. hmm.

Had no idea this existed! Thanks! Have spent the morning with GDQ on one monitor and that site up on the other. Currently watching a Wario Blast run. Fun stuff :)

Six Wario characters in a Smash Bros game?

more serious answer: Wario Syrup Ashley 9-Volt Waluigi ...and yeah, I can't really think of a sixth one I'd want. I feel Wario (in Land form) and Syrup serve as Land reps, Ashley and 9-Volt serve as Ware reps, Waluigi serves as the sports cameos rep... I guess a Rhythm character as the final...

Anyone notice how much Super Mario 64 drew from the early Wario Land games?

Focus on collecting treasures (stars) as a means to an end, with more treasures meaning better ending(s). Paying a toll to progress deeper into the game. The ground pound, which hadn't been in Mario games prior. Emphasis on picking up and throwing enemies and objects in the environment...

So Wario was considered for Melee?

I have to agree. A basically heavy tier Mario with maybe a shoulder barge for his side special would have been fine. Change his fireball to a coin throw (they changed Doctor Mario's to pills, so...), keep the ground pound and up-punch... yeah, I think that would have worked fine.

    Wario Speedruns.. hmm.

Master of Disguise is a tricky one to find. There's generally not a lot of interest in running it due to a couple of factors. 1) 3/DS games are hard to record & stream, due to needing a special modded setup, so you don't see a lot of it going on. You can emulate them, but that has it's own...

    Donkey Kong vs Super Wario

This just further reinforces my belief that the city in Wario Land II is Big (Ape) City from DK'94 and DKLand. And fuck what I wouldn't give to get my hands on that voxel gba engine from the Banjo-Pilot beta.

Six Wario characters in a Smash Bros game?

Wario Syrup Ashley Waluigi Cannoli and.... everyone already knows that Mr Game & Watch is really the Princess Shokora in disguise :p

Was Wario Land originally going to be the franchise name?

"Wario's X" sounds like it could have been a tentative franchise name, looking at Wario's Woods.

Is Wario the Japanese translation of a stereotypical American?

Isn't Wario supposed to be taller than Mario? Where did this "short" thing come from?

What does Nintendo have against Wario anyway?

Wario Land's identity was as the portable Mario platforming series, but with the NSMB and Mario 3D titles existing on both console and handheld, Wario Land has less of a distinct identity than it once did.

What does Nintendo have against Wario anyway?

It's strange, because New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a Wario Land game disguised as a Mario Bros. game. The main objective, beyond completing levels, is to collect as much loot as possible. Why was that title not New Super Wario Land? Why was it a Mario game?

    Thoughts on Wario's Woods?

Yeah, I think the defining part of the game is the fact that is pretty literally a puzzle-platformer. The fact that you actually have to run around as Toad manipulating the puzzle is pretty amazing and sets it apart from titles like Tetris Attack and Puyo Pop.

Does anybody still have a cartridge/CD of a game with Wario in it?

I have carts/discs of Wario Land 1, 2, 3, 4, Shake, Master of Disguise, World, Blast, Woods (NES), and several of the Wario Ware titles. The thrift shop down the street just got in a used copy of Doctor Mario 64. I'm trying to decide if I can justify the purchase or not...

What does Nintendo have against Wario anyway?

Shake It, while maybe not up to par with the early Wario Land games, was a glorious return to the Wario Land series, meshing the design sensibility of Wario Land 4 with the treasure hunting and random objective-based gameplay of the earlier Wario Lands, plus Captain Syrup came back! What's not...

WayForward should do a Shantae/Wario crossover game

Oh yes, even if no crossover ever happens, I would definitely pick Wayforward would be an excellent pick for future Wario platformers.

Super Smash Bros 4 and Wario; What We Know

Word is they took away his shoulder barge and replaced it with a punch. What the fucking fuck fuck

WayForward should do a Shantae/Wario crossover game

The Shantae series is where I get the same sort of fix I got from the older Wario Land games these days, and I really think the two series would mesh well. Have Risky and Syrup team up against the awkward tag-team of Shantae and Wario, each with their own unique style of "transformation" haha.

    Wario's partner

Foreman Spike could be Wario's Wario. Like, Wario looks like a decent human being next to him haha. And Syrup and Shokora are his Peach and Rosalina. Waluigi is his Luigi. Rudi can be his Bowser. and make Birdo his Yoshi. Cast complete!

Poll Is the Wario Land series really dead?

Someone convince WayForward to do a Shantae/Wario crossover game where Risky teams up with Captain Syrup. Shantae can do her genie transformations, and then be completely awed/grossed out by Wario's "transformations".

    Poll Best Wario Land villain?

They really need to come back in the next Wario Land game.
