I remember once seeing a video of Kevin Nash talking about the nWo invasion angle in WCW, about Hogan being the third man on Bash at the Beach. He said there was some worry that Hogan was going to no-show that night, and what would have happened if Hogan hadnt shown up. Im pretty sure I heard him say that Sting was the next person in line to take the place of Hogan. And I know that its a pretty popular rumor, too. Well, Sting went to a Q&A in the UK, and this guy here got to ask him about that himself.
Apparently, according to Sting, it wasnt true. He starts telling the story at 10:19
He also shares what Sting thought about his Wrestlemania match. Someone asked about his booking on WWE, and apparently Sting said that Vince and WWE were always respectful with him, told him about every story they had him in, and treated him with the respect of a legend of wrestling. And about the match with HHH itself, he explained the story to the audience. He brought up the bat breaking the hammer in half, and talked about how it represented the time when WCW was beating WWE in ratings during the Monday night wars. And the run in of the DX and nWo being a representative of that, too. And in the end, HHH ending it with the hammer, being the end of the WCW. He seems to hold no anger or resentment over the match, and wants his fans to feel the same way.
I thought this was really cool, and a good way to look at the match. I mean, I still think its lame that he lost, that it was once again WWE tooting its own horn that it "won the war", but its still a neat way to see the story, and Im glad that Sting feels okay with it : p
He also said that hed love to have his one last match with Taker, but he cant say whether or not he can, and that it can only happen if his doctors "miraculously" patch him back together to do it. So he still wants to, but is worried about his condition. Id like to see it happen though : p Would be cool for his career to end on an awesome victory.
