Pro Wrestling thread

I'd say the Ultimate Warrior was pretty good for what he was as limited as he was in the ring. He had a distinct look and intensity and could even be carried to a good match occasionally.
 
I dont think Ive ever watched an entire match with him before : p Think the only thing close to a whole match with him that Ive seen was a tag team match with him and Sting against Hogan and someone else on Nitro, but he didnt do much in that match : p I do know that he had a cheesy finisher move though : p He definitely had a cool persona, I feel like Id like him more if I knew him better : p
 
For big guys there really isn't a need to do anything extravagant. Since their huge size can compensate for making even a regular looking move deadly, here's another prime example. It still doesn't stop some one like Warrior for not pulling off other moves though, he does so little that it's boring.

 
I dont think size makes a boring move more interesting : p Its just hard to buy into these moves : p

I mean a move doesnt have to be flashy and all that, even a simple ddt can be cool move. In fact I loved Raven's Evenflow ddt. Or Stings Scorpion Death Drop, its just a reverse ddt, haha : p But people still like it : p

It just has to like....I dunno, look convincing I guess. I mean you want your favorite wrestler to have a move that you can be excited about, and falling onto your opponents backside just isnt really all that exciting : p Even with the Rock, who I like to poke fun at, his peoples elbow may just be an elbow drop, but at least he makes it look exciting : p
 
That makes sense I suppose if a move doesn't look realistic or convincing then it'd failed to attract an audience. Since even smaller guys can do moves that don't seem that do any damage such as the people's elbow which is just an elbow drop with a funny dance. If it looks painful and exciting it'd be much grand, It's down to if the person can make it grand since when it comes to pro wrestling a lot of people are really into the wrestlers themselves.

Wonder if holds fall under this category too, since unlike moves holds take some time to preform and just execute though people like Bret Hart managed to pull a hold as a finisher quite nicely and even Chris Benoit had his cross face which did look imposing too aside from his relentless chops.
 
I think leg holds generally look more convincing than like arm holds : p The only hold that I can think of that I dont really care for at this moment though is the bear hug. I mean yeah the right person could really hurt you with that but its not really an exciting hold : p Oh and the like head squeeze thing, where they put both hands on each side of your head and "squeeze", haha no ones gonna buy that : p Also I was bummed when Jericho went from the lions tamer (I think thats the name?) to the wall of Jericho. It was just a basic double crab hold, the first one was much more unique and exciting : p

And speaking of smaller wretlers with lame moves, I hate alot of the ones the WWE guys have nowadays : p I may have this wrong, but like that Ziggler guy, he just grabs someone by the back of the head and jumps backwards. Thats like the kind of things kids who havent learned how to fight yet do : p Is way lame : p
 
Aside from the terrible themes in WWE nowadays, lame moves accompany it. That might have been his name can't remember myself. One of the more interesting guys would have had to be Daniel Bryan though sadly he had to quit. Arm bars could look convincing I guess depending on who does them, but yeah generally leg locks look much painful and convincing. Clover Hold is another really good leg lock. Never heard Jericho's name before, what is Lion's Tamer? Is that his Sigfried and Roy gimmick.
 
Ive heard good things about Daniel Bryan but I dont watch wrestling anymore : p Would have to look him up sometime : p

And I liked that one too, I always kinda thought it was a scorpion death lock (I call it that cuz Sting did it first : p) without the leg through the opponents legs though : p

And it was his finisher move before he went to WWE, I think he used it in WWE too but he eventually went to the full boston crab move and gave it a different name, was lame : p Heres a picture-

Hahah love the sets of picture you posted for a reference, it looks like he's dancing. Yeah that does look like an awesome move. Not sure I have a personal favorite finisher though if I had to say it'd probably be UFO or Razor's Edge(Celtic cross) since those look really cool.

Yeah Daniel Bryan just had some pretty interesting moves, he was quite the heavy hitter especially for a guy his size.

And haha that UFO, have never seen that before : p That looks like the dizziness alone would hurt, haha. And yeah, I like the razors edge, too. I always thought it was way cool. I just liked Hall in general though : p Thought he had a neat style.
 
Scott Hall is my wrestling hero at this point, fav member in the NWO and his catchphrases are so funny. Definitely one of the more amusing and comical wrestlers out there. Yeah apparently the UFO move isn't allowed in WWE so that gif is taken from one of those indie wrestling groups.
 
Finishers have to fit the wrestler's personality and their style. A running splash is only convincing from either a big guy or when there's a large size difference.
