Puyo Puyo

I'm in the same boat when it comes to systems, though I'm too much of an obsessive nut to not get the Switch version as soon as it hits Europe regardless.

It's insanly exciting to think that this is actually happening and that PPT could be the big game changer that brings Puyo into the West for good, but I can't help but be anxious as well, because if this fails it's a save assumption that SEGA will never try again and wouldn't even blame them at that point.

So let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it does well.

Considering Nintendo of America's track record, I have some feeling that the NA release of PPT might be a digital only release which is my concern alongside how well it sells.

You gotta love that title, it's like SEGA reeealllly wants to assure people that this is happening, also english voice acting, Ecolo is the official romanization and not Ekoro/Ecoro, putting that question to rest and the Tetris charas are getting full...er names.

Edit: Also, Satan is Dark Prince again:

It amuses me how long that localized name has survived especially considering how the Puyo Pop name is now dropped. Don't care at all for the english voice acting but it's nice to see the effort and that it looks to be better than the amateur job done with Puyo Puyo Fever (though on another hand I almost miss those kinds of dubs since it seems like for today's anime and game dubs it's almost always the same voice...)

I thought they left away the Dark Prince name after Sega 3D Classics Puyo Puyo 2.

They probably didn't think it was worth touching up that aspect of the game even if it is a port and not an emulation.

3D Classics Collection was a odd case where they used the Dark Prince name for the loading screen trivia bits, but also kept it as Satan in the digital manual and the unaltered Tsu port.

Still not as bad as Fever's Rider/Riddel/Rita dilemma.

I do wonder what they'll settle with for her. Rider is probably the most popular name but is also probably the least accurate.

From what I have been told Riddel would be the most accurate option, though I'm expecting Rider to stay, since even japanese materials have used that one since Fever days with no exception.

A official english Puyo Twitter has opened :

Yah know, I really wonder what SEGA's exact feelings on PPT's localizations are, I mean they got to have at least some faith into the game if they are going to take the risk of localization.

I dunno, I just feel strangely optimistic that SEGA will make a good push for PPT to find success.

Really putting out all the stops. I just hope they don't overdo it at this point...I think the game will sell itself if fan support is as strong as it seems to be and they don't need to be so overzealous.

I guess they really want to maximize its exposure.

Not just them, Deep Silver (who are playing part in the game's localization) and the official Tetris Twitter are also drumming up attention for it.

It is a surpring push that's for sure, but I am glad they are doing it to generate interest from the general audience, because that can only help.

I do hope it sells well.

And I decided to settle it with myself that I'll get both the PS4 and Switch releases. And it does seem like Sega is advertising it.

I do hope this does well, I really do.

It's very faint, but you can hear a bit of some of the english voices, not good enough to form a full opinion, but it's something (Sig sounds kinda....raspy? Not even sure), starting from 2:41 is where I hear Sig the clearest.
