I'm surprised they bothered to make a new cover for the Switch version, I mean yeah it's just one of the match backgrounds, but it looks better then the plain yellow with Puyos and Tetriminos plastered on top, from the other versions.

This is probably bizarre but I hate Ringo's outfit in Puyo Tetris :s I like a lot of the other outfits but I feel like Ringo's is an ugly throwback to 7 with the bad combination of yellow and grey.

I admit, Ringo's outfit in Puyo Tetris isn't my favorite either. I hesitate to say I hate it, but I do prefer her outfit in the 20th Anniversary game. Probably why they simply reused that one in the next major installment (along with the rest of the characters).

I'm not sure if it was meant to be a permanent outfit. I've noticed a bit of a trend of giving the main characters alternate outfits for spinoffs.

Not to mention some characters just tend to change outfits a lot, I mean just look at the many Sigs we have so far:

I mentioned it before, but I'd love to see his PPT outfit come back someday, I like the 20th one, but I always tend to associate Sig with the stronger Arle-esque blue/white color scheme, since it makes a lot of thematic sense, with Hydrangeas and Strange Klug and all.

Speaking of Strange Klug, is it just me or does SEGA have no idea what to do with him? They clearly want to keep him around, yet they always end up not doing much of anything with him.

A clearer sample of some of the english voices:

Sig's voice in the video is actually his alt voice and I like it honestly, kinda interesting to have a Sig that sounds like that, plus his ''So I won huh?'' sounds so smug I love it.

S sounds good, thought I admitingly don't have the japanese voice in my head right now.

I could barely hear Risukuma that well, though the general tone of the voice fits.

Draco is great, easily dances circles around her current japanese voice, especially in 7 *shiver*.

Satan sounds oddly menacing.

Appearently the opponent in the second match with S is supposed to be Ecolo, in which case wow, what a change.

Amitie sounds fine, judging from the rather limited selection of voice clips we get to hear.

Rulue sounds fine too, though Witch sounds a bit too old if you ask me.

I have a hard time sitting through these videos without much visual cue but so far the voices seem pretty satisfactory. I don't have any outright complaints so far but I couldn't hear the last third of the video very well due to the music.

Well how about that, over night the english Puyo Twitter reached over 2000 followers, I actually wanted to adress something before, but now is just as good of an opportunity, because I gotta say I really enjoy the attempts at community interaction that the people behind the account are making, I think that's the kind of thing that Puyo needs and helps to keep interest high.

Huh interesting though it looks less like Sonic in the Puyo Puyo artstyle and more like his normal artstyle with the Puyo Puyo shading and lining slapped onto it. still looks sweet as hell though. and the fact that they went through the effort of actually making Sonic fit among the Puyo Puyo cast is definitely admirable. (Unlike Sonic Runners, which reuses character art, which by a result ends up clashing heavily with the 3D Models from Runners.)

New info and new trailer.

  • It's releasing on April 25th NA and April 28th Europe
  • There is no digital release on the PS4 for unknown reasons. Only physical. (Though the Switch version is getting a digital release alongside the physical release.)
  • For reasons I can't comprehend, the physical Switch version is going to be $40 dollars compared to the physical PS4 release which is $30 dollars. (The digital release would be $30 dollars though.)

Hello there! I'm puyokid! I'm new to the forums, so I hope we can get along and be friends! That being said, I just want to say that I'm a BIG Puyo Puyo fan! I'd love to learn about the series' lore, and I'm getting into playing Puyo Puyo and Puyo Puyo Tsu! If anyone has any tips on getting more than a 3-chain, I'd like to know them, please!d:)

Hello and welcome. For a beginner, I would recommend practicing solo and trying to get used to memorizing some forms. Here are some good resources to get you started.

From then on you can focus more on more intricate things like color management and your pacing.

Oh, thank you! That's very helpful.

By the way, I don't suppose anyone here is...well, decent at reading Japanese? I'm sorry if this seems like a "sudden" question for someone to be asking on here, especially after they just joined, but there is something I'd like some help with.

Sorry for the double post guys, but do any of you know the backstory behind THIS?:

The ONLY thing I can infer from it is (and PLEASE forgive me if I'm sounding like Captain Obvious here) that it is CERTAINLY a character model sheet for Arle and Carbuncle for Puyo Puyo~n (Puyo Puyo 4), circa 1998.

This honestly makes me believe (and REALLY hope) that maybe Puyo Puyo~n was probably going to have anime cutscenes aside from the opening cutscene. There's also character sheets for Satan, Rulue, Draco, Witch, and Seriri in this style that I've seen around. If I find them, I'll post them in this thread.

@puyokid sorry I can't help much in terms of Japanese beyond navigating menus.

Those character model sheets are quite a find, I've never seen them before (or maybe I've just been out of the loop.) I'm not sure how the animation process works exactly but it does seem a bit odd that they would put this much effort for a short animation sequence. Perhaps they did intend for more animation but it was too expensive in the end.

@The Big Magma, I don't suppose you're Schezoroark then? Well, I suppose it's all right. You know what? Would it be alright with everyone if I posted a few pages, and you could tell me what you think?

Still, as I've asked @warelander, if you know anyone who can either read or translate Japanese, it would be truly appreciated. Also, I don't suppose you'll ever translate the rest of the Light Novels and Drama CDs?

Speaking of which, does anyone know what animation company might have worked on this? I want to say TOEI Animation, yet the art looks like the studio worked on Tekken The Movie. WHATEVER studio that may be...

Also, I found the Draco, Witch, Seriri, Rulue, and Satan character sheets:

This site's like a treasure trove of Puyo Puyo~n artwork, so I'd give it a look if I were you!

This also makes me wonder...why the HECK hasn't there been a Puyo Puyo anime series?! As popular as this series is, I'm quite shocked there hasn't been at least a Japan-only anime for Puyo Puyo.
