Either way while I'm not really a fan of the Light Novels I did wonder when the next one was going to come, since there has been one per year for the past four years, so there it is, the cover art is already telling me what direction it might go into and that I shouldn't expect anything to come out of it for me.

Well, that does seem like a pretty sound notion. As popular as Puyo Puyo is in Japan, I guess it makes sense that they'd continue the practice of "one novel per year". Also, I agree with you on how the cover of this L.N. is pretty much telling us what route this story is going to take. Granted, I still want to read it of course.

Also, I just can't ignore the dragon-like creatures at the top-left corner there. Obviously, I doubt this story is going to take a Madou Monogatari-leveled dark turn even with those things around, but still I wouldn't rule out the possibility of some sort of dark element at some point.

Well, one can always dream can't they? Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not holding my breath or anything of the sort. Also, I noticed what you mean about Ally, and how the Light Novel looks like it's going to acknowledge the fact that she's from a completely separate dimension from the ones that contain Magic Village (Arle), Primp (Amitie), and Suzuran (Ringo).

Heck, if it wasn't for this upcoming L.N. featuring Ally and whatnot, I'd almost be inclined to believe that the events of the Light Novels all take place around the time frame of 20th Anniversary. I say this, because according to what I've read from a translated bit from Ringo's story in 20th, she, Risukuma, and Maguro all decide to simply set up shop in Primp (just like Arle, Carbuncle, and the rest of the Madou-era cast before them), after realizing that they currently don't have any means of returning home to their dimension. As a matter of fact, I don't even think that 20th's ending even RESOLVED that issue...

I mean, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that problem never got a solution and Ringo and her friends were still stuck in Primp in the meantime.

Now, I'm not expecting the book to be fantastic or anything; a nice little expanded universe thing, yes, but nothing truly special. But I do admit, I like looking at the art. Worth a look for at least that much.

I said it before that shipping isn't the main attraction for me when it comes to Puyo, but with the inclusion of Ally and the themes she brings along it would be nice if I could actually look forward to something in that regard, but it has been pretty much been established that within' the Light Novel continuity Arle simply doesn't give a rat's ass about Sig and their only interaction in these things so far was the only negative one they have had in anything period, so yah know, at this point I almost want them to never even appear in the same scene in these things, because my god. I can live with the Amitie/Sig relationship getting much more focus, but jeez, be a little less cruel, will yah?

Also, so my post isn't just a bunch of whining take this:

Same here. As a matter of fact, one of the things I currently enjoy about (from what I currently DO know about her) is her theme of love. I imagine her to take the role of "occasionally successful matchmaker" among the cast. For example, she tries to fix up the likes of Arle and Schezo/Rulue and Satan, which fails spectacularly, and pairings like Amitie and Sig/Ringo and Maguro may have varying levels of success.

Also, negative interactions between them? Within the Light Novels' continuity? Were you trying type Arle and Schezo, or did you really mean Arle and Sig? Also, if you could clarify what you mean by "be a little less cruel", I would appreciate it.

Oooh! Schezo from Puyo Puyo 7! My second favorite look for Schezo just after his Yo~n look!

....Then again, I suppose it's partially because his PP7 outfit is (more or less) a modernized version of his Yo~n outfit. What can I say? Schezo (IMO) REALLY pulls off black. I suppose that comes with being the Dark Wizard.

I did mean Arle and Sig, in the second Light Novel during that chapter were Sig is huge and granted everyone who was affected by the dream mist was more inconsiderate and selfish (even Maguro towards Ringo), it's still disappointing when that's all the interaction they have gotten so far in 4 volumes and even when he apologizes, he does it to Amitie, whom he didn't do anything towards. And then there is Sig's Secret, where Amitie is the only one of the A girls that even gives a shit that something is clearly going on with Sig and that he needs help. Klug and Raffine actually show concern and even care for him, but if it was up to Arle and Ringo, without Amitie leading the pack, Sig would have been taken over by his demon powers and essentially died, because they clearly didn't care enough to help him and judging from the way it was written, only did it to make Amitie happy.

And when I say ''be less cruel'' I'm just expressing my desire to see less of that kind of stuff, I'm essentially calling out to the novels themselves, just a manner of speech.

Huh...Well, it HAS been quite a while since I've read the 'Everyone's Dreams Coming True?!' Light Novel, so I suppose I just never payed much attention to how the Dream Mist caused Sig and Maguro to become somewhat inconsiderate to Amitie, Ringo, Arle, and Carbuncle, even though they were trying to save them and everyone else who was exposed to the mist. To be fair, we ALL know how the likes of Rulue and Raffine can be, so I guess I expected that behavior WAY more from them than Sig and Maguro.

As for 'Sig's Secret', I'm still a bit bothered by how Arle, Ringo, and Carbuncle ween't involved in the climax of that story. I mean, if Raffine and Klug (two of the biggest jerks in the series) could actually show something resembling concern for Sig (who they consider something of a total bug-loving weirdo), then what was stopping Arle and Ringo? In the games and the L.Ns, we know that Arle and Ringo don't HATE Sig. Not in the slightest. But it still felt weird that they didn't help Amitie out for that one, especially considering how the consequences obviously would have also been MUCH more dire for Sig (and possibly EVERYONE else).

And when I say ''be less cruel'' I'm just expressing my desire to see less of that kind of stuff, I'm essentially calling out to the novels themselves, just a manner of speech.

Amazing images! I especially love the ones of Lagnus, Jan, and Maguro. The one of Sig and Honey Bee makes me think that she NEEDS to return to the main games as soon as possible. I want to see some Sig and Honey Bee interactions! Also, that Schezo's looking real intimidating...BTW, is that really PC98 Schezo? I thought this was MSX Schezo, and that "Cool Schezo" in Quest was his PC98 incarnation.

I'd give ANYTHING to see THIS happen in the ACTUAL Puyo games. ANYTHING.

A pretty cute piece for the Water Elemental that I came across. As I've said in the past, I hope SEGA will add the likes of her, Billy Burn, and the rest of the Nazo Puyo cast to (at the very least) Quest one day.

Draco in a charming little schoolgirl outfit. Something else I never knew I needed, but here we are...

Arle and Rulue in cute schoolgirl outfits. Specifically, Suzuran High's school-mandated uniforms from Puyo Puyo 7. As a matter of fact, after seeing Rulue in this piece, I'm starting to wonder what PP7 would have looked like had EVERYONE (Madou-era cast and Lemres included) been wearing Suzuran High's school uniforms...

This last two pieces actually make up a story, but apparently Satan's making a kids' TV show(?) and he recruits Succubus and Incubus to serve as those types of children who host the show alongside the host themselves. Looks about as hilariously immature and silly as you can imagine. Still, I have to give Succubus this, she's DEFINITELY rocking those pigtails, though.

As for the summary, the best I can make out of it is that Ally was teleported from her dimension (somehow) to Primp Town, and she lost quite a bit of her memory in the process (similar to Amitie in PP7). As a result, all she CAN remember is that she needs the power of (what else?) love to bring her back home. Obviously Arle, Amitie, Ringo, and Carbuncle agree to help her, but...how exactly are they going to utilize LOVE to bring her home?

Unrelated side note: I decided to hang around the website whose link you posted, and imagine my pleasant surprise to find that Nintendo apparently makes Light Novels based on my favorite video game series, Kirby! It would seem that the distributor of the Puyo L.Ns does the same for the Kirby L.Ns as well! So, thanks for posting that link!

They don't need to be BFFs or anything, but they are friends and friends look out for each other, something we have seen from both ends in the games and it would be nice if the Light Novels reflected that, instead of what they have been doing so far.

Exactly. I also feel the same when in regards to Ringo. I know she and Sig don't interact anywhere near as much as Amitie and Arle, but she's certainly not what I'd call uncaring enough to not be perceptive in the fact that something seems VERY off Sig. She'd probably think that even for him, he was acting weirder than usual.

Honestly, it just feels like a majority of the series' cast are jerks to each other (moreso than usual) in the Light Novels than the games, if I'm being honest here.

I wouldn't say that too much, but you can tell a difference in writing when comparing the novels to the games and there are some things I actually do like, like novel Schezo in general, I just don't approve of seeing relationships put under a rug like that, because to me that's direct defilement of canon.

Ah well, at least the fanbase has got me covered.

And I see reinforcement of my personal canon of side-materials when they're in a whole other medium from the primary sources. In this case, the games are the primary sources, and the light novels the side materials.

Basically, my stance is that side-materials are canon...as long as they don't contradict the primary sources. Any parts where the primary source contradicts the side-materials renders at least that part of it non-canon, that part either not happening at all, or happening in a different manner.

In this case, the light novels are only canon so long as the games don't contradict them. Of course, if the whole book contradicts the games in a way that it can't even be reworked, then it's non-canon entirely.
