I wouldn't say that too much, but you can tell a difference in writing when comparing the novels to the games and there are some things I actually do like, like novel Schezo in general, I just don't approve of seeing relationships put under a rug like that, because to me that's direct defilement of canon.
Ah well, at least the fanbase has got me covered.
Well, I guess you have a point there. Still, I have to agree with you that it IS a bit bothersome that the Light Novels don't really seem to follow the games' canon. At least, in the sense of keeping some of the characters to form.
Also, can I just say that that is one amazingly cute Arle x Sig piece right there?
1. Vigorous Draco is not the same as Yon Draco, she's closer in look to that version then any of the other Dracos, but that's about it
Oh, I see. As a matter of fact, I checked the differences between them earlier today, and:
I feel like Vigorous Draco, at the very least, took some cues from Draco's Yo~n incarnation.
Still, I WOULD like to see Draco from Yo~n in Quest one day. Hey, if we could get Green Witch...
2. Maybe? There are way too many Quest characters for me to remember at the drop of a hat and this is the first time I'm hearing of a Quest character having any kind of relationship with an established character.
Well, here's the Dragon Clan I was talking about, with the last one (Yuanjiao) implied to be in a relationship with Draco, oddly enough. Maybe it's a mistranslation...

And I see reinforcement of my personal canon of side-materials when they're in a whole other medium from the primary sources. In this case, the games are the primary sources, and the light novels the side materials.
Basically, my stance is that side-materials are canon...as long as they don't contradict the primary sources. Any parts where the primary source contradicts the side-materials renders at least that part of it non-canon, that part either not happening at all, or happening in a different manner.
In this case, the light novels are only canon so long as the games don't contradict them. If the games contradict a part of the light novels, then it's that part of the light novel is rendered non-canon, meaning that part either didn't happen, or happened in a different way. Of course, if the whole book contradicts the games in a way that it can't even be reworked, then it's non-canon entirely.
Yes, this is headcanon in this case, and it doesn't just apply to Puyo Puyo, but I felt like sharing. Does it sound stupid? Maybe. But I feel like it works.
Personally, I feel the same way. I mean, the Puyo Puyo series barely has any continuity in the games as it is, so the Light Novels probably don't need to worry too much about stepping on any toes. This being said, I've always had the headcanon that all of the Light Novels (prior to Ally's debut in the upcoming Novel) take place during the events of 20th Anniversary. Obviously, there's nothing really disproving that this is the case since 20th Anniversary is more or less a slice-of-life game in and of itself, with barely any stories linking to each other in-game. Just the Light Novels and their stories, no less.
