Also, I gotta ask you one last time for some reblogs and I promise it's really the last time:

Pretty much my favorite Maguro pic ever and something I think you might like too.

Again, I promise this is the last time I ask, if it's getting too much don't hesitate to say so.

It's better reserved for a new character, there's really no point to changing anyone else's spell set, Amitie is very much a special case in that regard.

I thought as much.

Scylla is choice that I did't see coming, also Momomo was someone I had on my mind, but didn't quite get to include. As a whole fine list, not how I'd do it, but that's entirely a matter of personal preference.

Also, just for the lulz I made a 50 chara roster of just my favorites :
index.php
Kinda interesting to see how that would vary from a ''normal'' roster, I kept Madou and Puyo Wars out of it, for the sake of simplicity, Quest too for the most part, but I made one exception for Marvett, since she already missed out on the previous one.

Hey, not bad! If you don't I'd like to try my hand at this.

Oh, it's no prob. BTW, I hope you know that I totally don't mind you asking me for anything (ESPECIALLY something as simple as a reblog or posting).

Basically, if it's something I can do, then no prob. If not, then the best I can do is apologize for not being able to do. That being said, consider your reblogs taken care of, pal!

Interesting, Nomi is a surprising choice, though I did start to pay a bit more mind to him after playing Saturn Monogatari, if mainly for the irony of this tiny Flea being among the bosses that gave me the most trouble.

Thanks a bunch, the truth is I know I can count on you, I just can't help but be a bit afraid that I might come off as trying to take advantage of your helpfulness.

To be fair, I've had some ideas so as to slightly retool Nomi for the SEGA-developed games lately. Specifically, he'd have super strength on par with that of Minotauros and/or Rulue despite his small size, although it would be the result of a rage quit, as a call-back to his role as a boss in Saturn Madou. What do you think? I know, it's a bit cliche....

Hey, thanks! Also, don't worry. I mean, like I've said if it's something I can help with, then I'll do what I can. Otherwise, I'd let you know immediately if it's something I can't handle.

BTW, I'm pretty sure we've passed Chronicles' 1-year anniversary, right? Sooooo............Rafisol in Quest when?

Hey why not, I mean it would give him some degree of characterization at the very least.

At this point it's starting to get a bit silly, I mean they already put her in a LINE Sticker set, so really, spoilers really aren't an excuse anymore to keep her out.

Hey, why not? I mean, it would give him some degree of characterization at the very least.

Yeah, definitely. I mean, I know it can be a little cliche, but considering the circumstances I could only imagine the look on Rulue's (and everyone else's) face after seeing Nomi's unusually devastating strength. Honestly, I feel like Nomi could be what Onion Pixy is to the Fever-era.

I wouldn't be surprised if you've already heard about this, but...

Yaaaay!!! And she looks so much more badass than the LINE artwork too!

Speaking of Rafisol, do you think she (in the event that she returns for future games) and Doppelganger Arle (same circumstance as Raf) would be neutral parties to the cast, or...?

Frankly, I had to do a double take before making my Tumblr post about it, becuase I was so utterly amazed that I had to make sure I wasn't fantasizing, but YES! Mah girl is finally in Quest and the art for her is easily among the best that Quest has cranked out so far!

Also two things:

1) While it didn't happen on Chronicle's anniversary my initial suspicion of SEGA waiting with adding her until this general frame of time was pretty close.

2) I find it interesting that she's a purple/blue card and not pure purple, while I'm sure it has nothing to do with that I'd like to count it as another similarity to Sig, who's a blue card and even has a blue/purple color alt.

Speaking of Rafisol, do you think she (in the event that she returns for future games) and Doppelganger Arle (same circumstance as Raf) would be neutral parties to the cast, or...?
Given how Chronicle played out I find it hard to see her as anything but a straight up good guy/girl in future games, with some rough edges since she still has some things to learn, but all around as someone that would be a direct ally to the heroes. Doppel by comparison strikes me a lot more as someone who would just do her own thing without standing on anyone's side specifically.

Also, with Rafisol coming to Quest now and me finally having a Switch and thus finally some playtime with my PPT copy that I owned since it's european launch I got thinking about the idea of a Switch port of Chronicle.

A lot of people want it and while I have voiced scepticism over whether it could happen it's not like I don't want it myself and to be honest given PPT's performance on the Switch there's clearly an audience for the series on there, not just for a western release, but also to give it a second chance in Japan, because from what I recall Chronicle didn't do that great, at least initially, which didn't surprise me, considering the horrible release date.

I'm telling you, that Quest art of Rafisol is just gorgeous. IMO, it really captures Rafisol's more intimidating side.

1) I was wondering why they didn't release her on Chronicles' 1-year anniversary, but maybe it's because they didn't want Rafisol to get overshadowed by that Osomatsu collab they're doing?

2) Personally, I just thought it was because her primary colors consist of blue and purple. Then again, Rulue is labeled as a red card, so...

Yeah, you have a point there. I mean, Raf has shown that she's certainly open to the idea of being good, it's just that she's aware of her origins, and feels like she doesn't deserve such an opportunity. Whereas with Doppel, she comes off as more of a "Shadow the Edgehog"-type of character (Yes, the misspelling WAS intentional), where after being around the cast for a period of time, she'd find them almost unbearable to be around, keeping to herself for the most part.

Speaking of which, you should see Puyo Puyo's character page on TV Tropes. Specifically, the page consisting of the series' SEGA-era cast. A ton of info has been added for both Ally and ESPECIALLY Rafisol.

As for Chronicles getting a Switch port, I feel like that would be a more logical course of action for the game's Western release. Releasing on the 3DS feels like a bit of a waste, since the Switch is what everyone's so focused on right now. What's more, maybe SEGA could make sort of a "Special Edition" out of the game for the hypothetical Switch port.

Also, part of the reason why Chronicles supposedly didn't do so well in Japan was due to it releasing around the same time as the new Yakuza game which got released around the same time frame.

1) I was wondering why they didn't release her on Chronicles' 1-year anniversary, but maybe it's because they didn't want Rafisol to get overshadowed by that Osomatsu collab they're doing?
1) Doubtable, since she wasn't available for play until today and we didn't know of the cursed Osomatsu collab until a couple of days ago.

With that said I do think that SEGA not wanting her to go under due to people being too occupied with the Christmas season may have been it.

2) Personally, I just thought it was because her primary colors consist of blue and purple. Then again, Rulue is labeled as a red card, so...
2) Rulue is red because every series of cards has up to five main representatives, which use the five colors and sometimes characters are stuck with a certain color when the more fitting one is already taken, it's also why Archan is a red card or why Lagnus is a purple card.

Rafisol doesn't fall into that and stands out as the only mainstream/Nazo and non-alt character to be a dual color card, which doesn't need to have any meaning behind it, but it is notable and with her being a blue card and part of the Many Mysteries series she just happens to be a very good choice for a teammate for Sig, who she already shares notable similarities with.

Speaking of which, you should see Puyo Puyo's character page on TV Tropes. Specifically, the page consisting of the series' SEGA-era cast. A ton of info has been added for both Ally and ESPECIALLY Rafisol.
It is good to see that people are still working so hard on the page, especially given that we have known all that stuff for a while, but with Chronicle not being localized (so far) it tends to go under a bit.

Also I should mention that Rafisol's page on the Puyo Nexus Wiki is surprisingly competent, complete and detailed, thanks to the efforts of a fan who got sick of people dismissing her simply for her design being an inverted Ally (no matter how much sense it makes in context of the story) which is a nice change of pace from how lacking most of that wiki is, anyone who wants to get into Puyo is far better off getting their info from TV Tropes.

I do remember an interview saying that PPT was made in part to get the attention of western players, so the idea of a Switch port of Chronicle made in part for the sake of a localization isn't entirely unthinkable, especially since they practically set heaven and hell into motion to get PPT over here, in spite of Ubisoft's grip over the Tetris license in western markets.

The biggest question is just whether or not SEGA thinks it's worth it and that's something I really can't make a guess on.

Also, part of the reason why Chronicles supposedly didn't do so well in Japan was due to it releasing around the same time as the new Yakuza game which got released around the same time frame.
There was also the release of Pokemon Sun & Moon on November 18th, which while not super close was still close enough to Chronicle's release to spell trouble.

I suppose that makes sense. While I'm not a fan of Osomatsu, I believed that was popular enough in Japan that people would focus more on that and (for some reason or another) ignore Rafisol getting added to the game.

2) Rulue is red because every series of cards has up to five main representatives, which use the five colors and sometimes characters are stuck with a certain color when the more fitting one is already taken, it's also why Archan is a red card or why Lagnus is a purple card.

Oh, so that explains it. This whole time, I've been so confused as to why characters like Rulue, Lagnus, Archan, and Raffine have the card colors they have today rather than blue and yellow, respectively. BTW, I sort of figured that Raffine would have used red as her color rather than yellow, but I digress. I came across Archan's card at one point, but I forgot hers wasn't green, but red.

As for Rafisol, I guess never really noticed how she's the first mainline/Nazo character/non-alt. character to have a dual color card. Certainly an interesting detail, though.

It is good to see that people are still working so hard on the page, especially given that we have known all that stuff for a while, but with Chronicle not being localized (so far) it tends to go under a bit.

True, true. What with SEGA having not localized Chronicles yet/No one fan-translating Chronicles, it's been difficult to find info to add to TV Tropes for quite some time now. Heck, I'm one of the editors of the Puyo TV Tropes page, so...

There's not even info on the post-game story. As far as I know, it seems to deal with the cast fighting off the remnants of Rafisol's dark power that was unleashed upon Ally's world when she was first released from Ally's pendant.

Also, I've seen Rafisol's page on the Puyo Nexus wiki, and it's certainly well-detailed. The only criticism I really have is that the info should really be divided in paragraphs. Otherwise, you're right about how that wiki is seriously lacking in (mostly pre-Fever era) info. I mean, Madou-era characters Billy Burn and Water Elemental STILL have red-linked pages after all this time.

Yikes...I commend SEGA for being able to release the game on its 25th Anniversary, but did they get screwed over or what?

Happy new year to you too, been doin' alright so far.

Speaking of which, what do you think of the collab designs for Ringo, Salde, Strange Klug and whatever other poor saps that will fall victim to this?

I mean objectively I know that this just a harmless collab, with the bros cosplaying as these characters, but yeesh, I so don't dig how these look. Doesn't help that I'm already not a fan of the Osomatsu artstyle.

BTW, I sort of figured that Raffine would have used red as her color rather than yellow, but I digress. I came across Archan's card at one point, but I forgot hers wasn't green, but red.
The Primp students have always been representatives of the five Puyo colors, like this:

Amitie = Red
Tarutaru/Sig = Blue
Rider = Green
Klug = Purple
Raffine = Yellow

Most of them have some tell in their designs that make that connection more clear :

Amitie has her hat/beanie.

Rider, Tarutaru and Klug largely wear stuff in their ''representative'' colors.

Sig has his hair, most of his outfits feature at least a degree of blue (PP7 being the only exception), his spell theme is the color blue and 15th even makes further notice of this when he and Arle (also a blue character) talk about their mutual liking for the color.

Raffine does wear some degree of yellow, but is mostly orange, so she's by far the least obvious case, but still enough to fit with the theme.

Eh, Fever onwards info can be just as bad, with many sections containing only the bare minimum of infos, like the personlity section on Rafisol's page is one of the only ones that actually tries to cover every facet of the character. Heck, most characters don't even have their main PPT artworks in their gallery pages and the Tetris characters aren't even listed on the characters page, in fact they didn't have pages at all for years.

Also, with PPT's surprising success over here, we can agree that there's definitely an audience for the series on Nintendo consoles.
I just wish SEGA would give some word on whether or not they deem the game's western performance as satisfactory in their eyes, what we keep hearing is encouraging and I understand not giving hard numbers, but it would just be nice to have some official word on the matter.

Also, since we were talking Chronicle and Rafisol can we take a moment to appreciate that her battle theme is the best thing ever?

Also, I've got a decent amount of playtime with my Switch copy of PPT now and while the game isn't new to me (I already had an imported PS3 copy) it really did remind me how good of a game it is, especially since the crossover aspect makes it inherently special, sure it's missing a lot of old modes, but they had to go that route since all playstyles have to work with Tetris as well and I mean come on, it's Puyo Puyo crossing over with friggin' Tetris, the mere concept is awesome.

Having heard the english voices again for the first time in a while also helped to remind me of how much of a pleasent surprise the english dub is, sure I'm still not big on english Feli and english Witch still sounds too old for my liking (alt Witch is fine though), but everyone else is ace. While english Schezo isn't quite what I imagined the performance knocks it out of the park and others like Suketoudara, Amitie and especially Draco are straight up improvements from the japanese voices. Then of course there's Ben Diskin as Sig, who I already loved, both in his regular and alt performances, but the more I'm playing the game the more he's growing to become my favorite voice among the english cast, just the idea of him reprising his role as Sig would already be enough for me to want more Puyo games to be localized, even without all the other reasons for me to want that to happen.

Even the story is among the better ones in the series in my opinion, I still wish that the Puyo site of things wasn't filled with so many of the current day Puyo story clichés that I don't care for, but the whole thing is really about the Tetris characters (especially T) and they carry the narrative very well, it helps that the excellent localization makes the already humerous writing even better, making it easily one of the funniest games in the series to date.

I should also stress that I often bring up said current day Puyo story clichés as a bad thing, I should clarify that I don't that they are inherently bad, I just think they make the stories feel very repetetive and that interesting ideas either get shoved to the side or ignored in favor of stuff that we have already seen before dozens of times.

Arle's involvment in the story is the biggest example for me, because other then her being just along for the ride and Carbuncle getting along with O, the only things she does are the typical interactions with other Compile characters, which good writing or not, are something we have seen for 20+ years by now and coming from 20th where her story only involved characters from that era, it's just a shame that no other aspect of her character really get's much attention, like her history in Primp. By the time in Chapter 4 when the group meets several Primp citizens Arle completely defects from the group to chase after Satan and meet Schezo and Rulue. Schezo only appears in three chapters total and meets more Primp people then her, let that sink in.

It says a lot about how inconsequential Arle is to the greater plot, when she's the only one between her, Amitie, Ringo, and T to be absent from two chapters, rather then just one.

Oh, GOD. Prince Salde was subject to...THIS? I can't believe I'm about to ask, bt...can I see it?

Not going to lie, I've thought if ANYONE would be subject to this first, it would be Maguro (and eventually, the rest of PP7's cast would follow).

Oh, OK. Thanks, pal. That really clears things up for me. I knew Raffine had a legit reason as to why she was labeled yellow, but I usually forget about her outfit.

Wow, this is amazing! Someone really went all-out to show us that Rafisol is NOT just "Evil Ally" (even though she, for all intents and purposes, technically IS Evil Ally).

Good point. I keep hearing that the game did well over here, but SEGA themselves should really say something already rather than leave it to Nintendo to make vague statements that it did well.

Also, since we were talking Chronicle and Rafisol can we take a moment to appreciate that her battle theme is the best thing ever?

Oh, I totally agree. Although, two things:

1) Would it be weird if I said that his song needs more electric guitar?
2) Maybe this is just me, but is this song a remix of Chronicles' end credits theme?

Also, I've got a decent amount of playtime with my Switch copy of PPT now and while the game isn't new to me (I already had an imported PS3 copy) it really did remind me how good of a game it is, especially since the crossover aspect makes it inherently special, sure it's missing a lot of old modes, but they had to go that route since all playstyles have to work with Tetris as well and I mean come on, it's Puyo Puyo crossing over with friggin' Tetris, the mere concept is awesome.

Having heard the English voices again for the first time in a while also helped to remind me of how much of a pleasant surprise the English dub is, sure I'm still not big on English Feli and English Witch still sounds too old for my liking (alt Witch is fine though), but everyone else is ace.

Even the story is among the better ones in the series in my opinion, I still wish that the Puyo site of things wasn't filled with so many of the current day Puyo story clichés that I don't care for, but the whole thing is really about the Tetris characters (especially T) and they carry the narrative very well, it helps that the excellent localization makes the already humorous writing even better, making it easily one of the funniest games in the series to date.

I should also stress that I often bring up said current day Puyo story clichés as a bad thing, I should clarify that I don't that they are inherently bad, I just think they make the stories feel very repetitive and that interesting ideas either get shoved to the side or ignored in favor of stuff that we have already seen before dozens of times.

Arle's involvement in the story is the biggest example for me, because other then her being just along for the ride and Carbuncle getting along with O, the only things she does are the typical interactions with other Compile characters, which good writing or not, are something we have seen for 20+ years by now and coming from 20th where her story only involved characters from that era, it's just a shame that no other aspect of her character really get's much attention, like her history in Primp.

Wow, nice review there! If you don't mind, I have my opinion on a character I totally forgot to talk about when the game first released here: Rei. He sounds TOO loud (and emotional) than what I hoping for. Heck, what I was hoping for the English version of the game to do was to kick off a sort of running gag with Rei where he'd talk SOOOO silently, people (in real life) would make a little game out of trying to make out what he just said. In-game, everyone would understand him no prob.

As for the story, the S.S. Tetra cerw were obviously the MVPs of the game. While the usual Puyo gags have their moments, it wouldn't hurt SEGA to do something new. As you've said, Arle doesn't even interact with anyone outside of Amitie, Ringo, the S.S. Tetra crew, and the Madou-era cast (bar Suket, Draco, Witch). After 20th, does this get old or what?

Oh, GOD. Prince Salde was subject to...THIS? I can't believe I'm about to ask, bt...can I see it?

Not going to lie, I've thought if ANYONE would be subject to this first, it would be Maguro (and eventually, the rest of PP7's cast would follow).

Here's the site, truth to be told I actually find Salde to be the tamest one, with the Ringo cosplay being the most cursed one, while Strange Klug falls somewhere in the middle.

Wow, this is amazing! Someone really went all-out to show us that Rafisol is NOT just "Evil Ally" (even though she, for all intents and purposes, technically IS Evil Ally).
Exactly and yah know, it goes to show what good writing and characterization can do to make what could have been a bland, generic evil clone, into a very compelling, fleshed out and (early villain status notwithstanding) deeply sympathetic character, especially since even her initial villainous appearence is only fueled by her literally having just been born and knowing nothing about herself or the world around her, other then the fact that she is a being of dark magic and thus something that many would consider evil by default.

By the by, here's also her character description and monologue text lines in Quest, since they already got translated :

Description
''A mysterious entity who came from a world different to anywhere such as Pwurp or Primp Town. Even she herself does not have an understanding of why she is here now.''

Monologue
1) "For me... there is nothing... Not love... nor light..."
2) "You have... an unrelated... A superfluous power..."
3) "...I haven't... seen anything here before... This is... not a place I know of..."

As a whole consistent with what we know of her from Chronicle.

Oh, I totally agree. Although, two things:

1) Would it be weird if I said that his song needs more electric guitar?
2) Maybe this is just me, but is this song a remix of Chronicles' end credits theme?
1) Maybe a bit in the background, personally though I love how this song goes more for violins and a generally more unusual instrumentation for a Puyo song. It certainly sounds more like an RPG track, which is fitting and it's simply beatiful and perfect for Rafisol.

2) Possible, been a while since I heard that song though, would have to listen to that one again.

Ah yeah, forgot about him to be honest. Also that idea for that running gag gives me heavy Kenny McCormick vibes, with the whole idea of making him more difficult to understand to make people wonder what he said.

At this point I just wonder if Ally and Rafisol being a thing now will shake things up a bit and perhaps get rid of some of the repetetive elements of current Puyo stories. Either way I just really want for those two to stick around, it would be damn lame if they just get dropped right then and there.

See what I mean? By the way, the Pwurp Islands are situated in an entirely different dimension than that of the 'A' Quartet's worlds, right? I ask this, because the monologue text for the Madou-era, Fever-era, and PP7 characters all state that they were supposedly "summoned" from their worlds to the Pwurp Islands.

2) Possible, been a while since I heard that song though, would have to listen to that one again.

I'll say this much, I LOVE the end credits theme (sung by the 'A' Quartet, no less!).

Ah yeah, forgot about him to be honest. Also that idea for that running gag gives me heavy Kenny McCormick vibes, with the whole idea of making him more difficult to understand to make people wonder what he said.

Well, I can't really blame you for forgetting about him. Heck, Jay and Elle (alongside the rest of the S.S. Tetra cast) pretty much replaced everyone who was playable in 20th that didn't return to be playable in PPT. Jay and Elle pretty much replaced Yu and Rei.

BTW, Kenny was the first thing I thought of when I posted that. Heck, I was going to ask you if you knew what South Park was, so my reference hopefully wouldn't be lost on you.

Actually, that's something I've been hoping for. I won't lie to you, I've been getting the weird feeling that Ally's appearance in the LN that introduced her to them was precisely for this reason. Being that one friend that tries to hook everyone up with each other. I'm hoping that (and Rafisol's overall character) shakes things up a bit more.

Saw that one on Tumblr yesterday, yeah....forget what I said about Ringo being the most cursed one.

I ask this, because the monologue text for the Madou-era, Fever-era, and PP7 characters all state that they were supposedly "summoned" from their worlds to the Pwurp Islands.
I know that both Doppel and Rafisol have dialogue that confirms that the island isn't in either of their worlds, wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't in the Fever or PP7 worlds either, but I can't recall any particular dialogue that directly states it off the top of my head.

I wouldn't say replace, they don't even play the same kind of roles in the story and characters borrowing dropsets from demoted/absent characters happens fairly frequently in fact it took until their second appearence for the PP7 quartet to get their own dropsets.

BTW, Kenny was the first thing I thought of when I posted that. Heck, I was going to ask you if you knew what South Park was, so my reference hopefully wouldn't be lost on you.
Oh I'm a big South Park fan, which is I thought of Kenny pretty much the second I read your post.

Being that one friend that tries to hook everyone up with each other.
If I wasn't so convinced that SEGA would never do anything with this idea that I'd enjoy, I would be much more up for it.

I'm hoping that (and Rafisol's overall character) shakes things up a bit more.
Frankly, I think that Rafisol in particular could be the biggest game changer, if it were up to me I'd just straight up make her the main character of the next game, focusing on how she grows and learns from her experiences of whatever the story for such a game would be.

NOOOOOO!!! Not that! Well, at least I know SHE'LL be safe...otherwise, must this curse continue? BTW, 3 guesses as to the "she" I'm talking about.

I'm pretty sure Ecolo has some dialogue as well as Satan, Ms. Accord, and some Madou-era characters who were dug out of the vault for this game.

I wouldn't say replace, they don't even play the same kind of roles in the story and characters borrowing dropsets from demoted/absent characters happens fairly frequently. In fact it took until their second appearance for the PP7 quartet to get their own dropsets.

Well, I meant replace as in they were Suspiciously Similar Substitutes for Yu and Rei. Their love for pranking, being twins, etc.

Oh I'm a big South Park fan, which is I thought of Kenny pretty much the second I read your post.

Oh, OK.

If I wasn't so convinced that SEGA would never do anything with this idea that I'd enjoy, I would be much more up for it.

Me and you both.

Now that something I'd like to see. Hey, if a Madou game could be made with Arle not making ANY physical appearance (as far as I know), then a game focusing on Rafisol's development can't be off the table, right? BTW, the Madou game I was referring to was Tower of the Magician.

BTW, could you reblog a video post for me? Here's the link: https://puyohero.tumblr.com/post/169336190300/puyo-puyo-ns-intro-with-the-full-ducktales

Posted that one on Tumblr an yeah, I know who you mean. Also, since his last alt wasn't that long ago that might mean Sig is safe too, at least I hope.

One more and we know all of them, no idea who's gonna be next, Strange Klug and Incubus were both already pretty big curveballs.

I'm pretty sure Ecolo has some dialogue as well as Satan, Ms. Accord, and some Madou-era characters who were dug out of the vault for this game.
Just checked for Ecolo and Accord and no, neither says anything that indicates any world hopping, wouldn't be surprised if there was a Fever/PP7 character that says something along the lines of that, I just don't know anyone off the top of my head.

BTW, the Madou game I was referring to was Tower of the Magician.
Yeah I know, best Madou game BTW and no, Arle is nowhere to be found in that game.

Will do.

If you don't mind me asking, who did you think the "she" I was talking about was? Also, I'm hopeful that Sig won't have to endue this torture either.

That being said, THIS came as a surprise to me. Not as much as Incubus, but still.

Hmm...let me check and see if I come up with anyone.

BTW, about the post I asked you to reblog, what did you think of it? It took me a while to make it honestly.

I assumed you meant Rafisol, since she was just recently added to Quest, making it unlikely that we will be seeing any other cards based off of her for a while.

That being said, THIS came as a surprise to me. Not as much as Incubus, but still.
I knew that the last one would be a purple card, but it did surprise me as well that they chose Dark Arle of all things. I also agree on Incubus being the biggest surprise, especially since this is already the fourth Incubus variation in the game now, at this point I'm convinced that he's going to be in the next mainstream game, judging from my theory on Lagnus, Seriri and Harpy's pre-Chronicle Quest prominence and how it actually seemed to be spot on.

BTW, about the post I asked you to reblog, what did you think of it? It took me a while to make it honestly.
Oh, I didn't realize you were the one who made it, but either way cute idea and I don't really see anything sloppy about it (saw the description).

By the by, something I want to ask, Puyo has had a good amount of main villains now, how would you rank them and why would you rank them the way you do?

I'll make the start with my list:
7.png

7) Popoi

Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of nostalgia for Fever 1, love the battle theme and love the idea in general, it's just that even with reappearances in Quest and the Pachislot we really don't know much of anything of this form.

That's the big thing really, I just want some expolaration of Popoi's nature, because without it his Fever 1 appearence comes off like a huge fever dream that comes and goes in a matter of minutes.

6.png

6) Dark Arle

For as much as I go on about how I feel like the concept was wasted on and not used particulary well in PP7, I really do dig the idea, design, Doppelganger Arle homages, her Valkyrie alt and how her Quest dialogue reflects the changes made to Ecolo's character after PP7.

5.png

5) Satan

Now, Satan has made some very humerous appearences as the bg bad in games before, especially SUN and Minna. With that said he is certainly a smaller scale antagonist then the others (with the possible exception of Popoi) and truth to be told I actually prefer him taking other roles, like in MM: ARS where we see how Rulue fell for him or 15th where he just arrives in Primp and has the Primp students get on his nerves, I feel like those kind of appearences show more aspects of his character then his villain roles usually do.

4.png

4) Ecolo

What I like about Ecolo is that he's friggin' nuts, even his humanoid from as Unusual Ecolo is just plain bonkers in his animations, which gives him an air of unpredictability. This is made even better by his childlike personality, as someone who mainly just wants to have fun, but has a very questionable idea of fun, which combined with his powers is a recipe for disasters that the good guys need to fix.

With thatin mind while I really do like Ecolo as a character I wish the series wouldn't rely so much on his powers for easy conflict causes/solutions, that's easily one of the most repetetive aspects of the current stories.

3.png

3) Doppelganger Arle

It's no secret that I adore Doppel, though she is a similar case like Popoi, in the sense that I really want to see her character more explored, her personality, her motivations, everything.

Unlike Popoi however Doppel already has more to work with, particulary with her being a more serious character, the somber air that accompanies her scenes in YON and Quest even remarks that her true colors are still a mystery, complete with quotes that indicate a possibly more amiable personality then one might expect, at least towards those she considers allies.

Doppel is a case where the mysterious part is done well, it's just the uncertainty of when we will finally get a follow up on her story that's painful, even if it does nothing to hurt her character, as the sheer amount of love she get's from fans, even with her appearences being sparse, will tell you.

2.png

2) Rafisol

Considering how much I gushed about her recently there's really not much reason to get too deep into it here.

I will say I was conflicted on whether to put her above Doppel or not, I did so in the end because I feel that Sonic Team was very smart in delving into her character as much as they did and leaving things on a note that gives plenty room for more, but also ends things on a conclusive enough note, if they choose to not bring her back, instead of waiting for sequels to do the job, which helpes her to avoid the kind of traps that Popoi, Doppel and even Strange Klug (to a lesser extend) fell into.

1.png

1) Strange Klug

Yeah, this one hasn't changed at all.

I said it time and time again that one of my favorite aspects of Fever 2 is the sheer amount of backstory they threw in and Strange Klug (along with Sig) is pretty much the poster boy of Primp's history that we get to hear of, to the point where his true nature and origin are among the few Primp storylines that's still referenced nowadays.

As a villain he's an unusual case, since on one hand his motivation to kill Sig and bring back his old body and lack of regard of what he's doing to Klug (to the point of taunting Raffine over it, not knowing that she doesn't care about him) certainly make him a darker villain then usual for this series, at the same time nobody who encounters him knows who he is, so they don't take him all that seriously, which in turn is pretty darn hillarious, considering that his unsealing in Fever 2 was cut short by three teens who didn't have any clue of what was even at stake.

Then of course there's his connection to Sig and do I even need say anything on why I like that one? It helps that it's a play on the doppelganger motif that we see a lot in Puyo/Madou, he looks like an evil Klug, but is actually Sig's evil counterpart, who is possesing Klug's body and he's not a doppelganger, but rather the second half of what used to be the original demon and thus Sig's ancestor of sorts.
