I had this idea for writing a fanfic based on the games of the Wario Land series. Mainly 2 and 3, kind of 1, maby some 4 in there?
I wrote the first chapter, but reading it now, i dont really like it.
Aniway, here's the basic idea: it's not about Wario. It's about the people from Music Box World. About Rudy The Clown. What life was like before Rudy came and turned everyone into enemyes and bosses.
What life will be like after Wario brought piece to the world.
Also, you know how Wario Land 2 and 3 both have rabbts? Well, they are brothers, and the person who was tronsfrormed into the basketball bunny would go out Music Box World, to the "In Town", to find his basketball brother. He would go on a jeorney, with his best friend/girlfriend, across the world. Maby meeting Captain Syrup along the way. I didn't plan the story much...
And there would be back storyes of how the world was like before, and how people were fighting against Rudy, and storyes of how the world is now evolving, and stuff...
I didn't get motivation to continue writing it, because I couldn't find any place where people would be interested in it, or could give me reviews/beta reads. FanFictionNet even has a fanfic category "Wario Ware Inc", competly ignoring "Wario Land".
I'm thinking... Maby i should revive this idea? If you guys support this, maby I could actually start writing this?

You know, I played Wario Land 3 many times, but I never thought of the backstory in detal.
At most i thought "Wait? I've been killing innocent people this entire game? Oh wait, nevermind, they always respawn when I leave the area".
But some time ago i got interested in detals. Like, was the word exactly like it is at the start of the game? Or were we returning it to normal?
How are there treasures in levels that dont exist suddenly appear when a level is just created?
Who created the Desert Ruins? What was life like in the Village and Town? Did the people play lots of golf or socker?
Who was who? (The Old man was the spider from Out Of The Woods, a certain girl from the ending was a Sand Hand from Desert Ruins, and more).
And of course, what's with both games having rabbits? are they brothers? But then why is the second brother a rabbit, and yet outside of this world? That could be the main storyline of the fanfic...
As i sayd, I only have 1 chapter that I wrote a long time ago. At the end of January 2013, actually. And it kind of... It's kind of lame...
But does anyone want me to put it here aniway, just to get a rought idea of what I wanted to do?
 
Okay, I support this! Indeed, as someone who's first ever attempt at fan fiction (never published) was trying to explain mysteries abotu the Mario universe, I'd love to see someone write a fan fic which kind of clears up all the mysteries in Wario Land 2 and 3 instead!

And if you can ever also write a bit about Wario Land 4 and Shake It too, that would be awesome. Cause every Wario Land game has interesting locations with potentially mysterious pasts...

I also tryed 2 Harry Potter fanfics after this, they both failed. But I'm not interested int talking about those :)

And no, I never played Shake It, so it's best if I stay out of that territory

EDIT:
I'm dont remember the games so well, but I dont feel like replaying them anymore. Plus, my GBA is just to small and dark for me today, and I dont have any controlers, playing on a keyboard would be to difficult. Still, I probably should re-familiarize myself with the games, right? Perhaps by watching others play it?
 
Yeah, you should definitely watch a few videos of the games on Youtube. If you need stuff to write about in regards to them though, my suggestions are:

1. The robot in the Curious Factory. The awesome looking one in the background. That has to have a backstory, right?

2. Crescent Moon Village in general, because come on, towns filled with axe crazy ghosts that look like something out of Salem in the time of the Witch Trials just have to have a dark and mysterious past...

I dont think I have a writing style, I haven't really written anything. That fanfic and 2 others were the only ones that I tryed
(I'll upload it later, dont have it saved on this computer)

I'm pretty sure double posting is not allowed, like in other forums, so I'll add the document here.
As mentioned before, I wrote this at the end of January 2013... This document is pretty much a first draft, exsept i removed a few A/N that aren't really nessesary.
There are a bunch of typos as well. However, if I ever do write this fanfic, I will start from scratch, so there's not much point in fixing the typos here.
Hope you all like at least the idea

  • A bit too much dialogue and too little description

If i revive this fanfic, i would deffinetly try harder to make it better. The first chapter is intended to be the introduction to some characters, and probably not all of them.
I guess I'll need to be more creative with the characters. Even thought they would have backstoryes and further storyes, every character needs a good introduction to make a good story.

It would be nice if I could get some feedback from a writter wario fan. But I'd rather get feedback from the Wario fandom than professional writters that dont know the source material. This isn't something i would share with a large number of people, I'll probably not publish it anywhere else other than this forum.

And by the way, I named the main character, Quest, after myself (that is my name in the Harry Potter world - fandom), and the character Vista after an online friend. But now I'm thinking it may have been a bad idea... or...
 
Perhaps you could have the items from Master of Disguise in there (maybe a reference, that's up to you). Imo it should be from Wario's view which seems really hard but that is what makes Wario great is the quirky CDs, items/treasures, and descriptions. Think the WL4 manual dialogue because that is the best example I can think of since almost everything in there has Wario talking in first person. I like your reference/plot ideas already so keep up the good work. ;) Although make sure the Fiery Cavern copyrighted the fire/ice theme and not Super Mario Galaxy's Freezeflame or Shiverburn. And answer why Wario "Rupees" float in midair in a Wario fashion (like they are so valuable they can hold their own value off the ground).
 
Well, the plan was to make the NPCs the focus of the fanfic, not Wario... I dont think I can do Wario's personality well, but I guess I'll have to. For the flashbacks maby...

Things from WL2/WL4 could be there in the new adventure (Shoot's quest to find Dunk). They dont even need the golden pyramid, the worlds can still be in this world... maby...

I wish I still had the manuals. I heard people saying that the manuals to the Wario Land games are trully amazing. Unfortunatly, I no longer have them, they were eather lost, or thrown away. The only 2 manuals I still have are for SMB Deluxe (GBC) and DKC (GBC).
[Also, the box for Spongebob Battle For Bicini Bottom has surived the years, because when was a kid, i used it as a toy :P ]
I wish I could read those manuals again. I never found them anywhere online... I could buy physical copyes of the manuals on ebay, but kind of dont want to give my delivery adress...
 
I've never had any manuals for GB, GBC or GBA games :P I have the FIFA 07 box, and that's all besides the game cartridges themselves. Oh, and I do have the GBC's manual and box though.
I keep forgetting to download the zip, sorry >.>
