Well, here's the question that's sure to split the forum in half!

Do you like Ashley as a character in the WarioWare series?

Because from what I remember, it seems the site has an awful lot of people who are either downright obsessed with her or absolutely despise her as a character, so I'm curious what the actual numbers say about this.

So yeah, let's see whether Ashley has more of a fandom or more of a hatedom!
 
Why i do think she is getting a bit too much attention from Nintendo and she definitely doesn't deserve to be pushed so much, she is not a bad character IMO, she is just as good as the rest of the crew in my eyes. her creepy and slightly more serious demeanor sets her apart from the wackier characters and I find her to be a somewhat enjoyable character. Though I must say, she definitely needs a bit more to her as she does feel a bit on the cilche side at times compared to the other characters.

(She's at least more interesting then Young Cricket though.)

Decent, fits in, severely overexposed, has probably reached her limit in terms of potential unless leaves the Ware series entirely and even then would likely get lost with every other loli that ever existed

Yeah, I do like her as a character, in fact, I liked her design the first time I set eyes on her - when I was 10 I was looking for Mario characters to trace, for whatever reason I typed in Wario instead, but that mistake would turn out to be a great turn of events. I seen Ashley, more specifically fan art of her.

I don't fully remember what happens next, but I saved the picture and loved her character ever since. Though, not as much as characters like Mario, Luigi, Etc - it wasn't until I wanted her playable in Smash bros that she became one of my biggest favorites, reasoning?
I'm not very sure, but I think it was because she wasn't playable drove me to saying she was the best and deserved to be playable, one popular smasher called me a little shit for spamming "Ashley should be in Smash" for around 7 months. I wasn't even harming anyone, just leaving comments on Smash bros videos, he did end up getting his channel removed. (unrelated, I know.)

But what really made me like Ashley?

Because of this user on Miiverse. I already went into detail about her, so I'm not doing so again.

Also what drives me to stay a fan of Ashley? As you may not have known, I become a fan of characters often, but soon lose interest. In Ashley's case, she's an underrated character, and that leads me to support her even more. When Ashley becomes popular, beyond what I can imagine that's when I may lose interest in Ashley.

Just the joy of an underrated character I like getting noticed more and more keeps me a fan.

I used to like her but since i came to this forum i started to dislike her, resulting in her being my least favorite character. (I became especially tired of Ashley because of a certain user here.)

It's true. I've seen no less than three threads dealing with Ashley during my time here, yet we have no threads for many other interesting characters. Why do new threads keep popping up with the same topics/questions? Where is Red Brief J.'s thread?? I think a magical bull-man wrestler is just as interesting.

4chan is awful. I like crazy. But then there's untreated mental illness, self-sabotaging, and complete irrationality. I just normal crazy.
 
By the way, I don't like Ashley one bit. The best way to describe her is the vast majority of pop acts right now. A lot of pushing and hype for no reason but little substance and no creativity.

Drama like this is exactly the reason why i started disliking her.
I'm tired of the constant quarrels (Which mostly is because of Ashley by the way).
And the fact that a admin even throws oil in the fire instead of putting it out is sad.
 
So, would you rather Ashley stopped being discussed altogether? also the mod didn't create this thread just to start drama, other, just to see what the forum thinks of her, because he noticed people either like or hate her here.

I can understand why CM30 wanted a poll: clear statistics about the like-dislike ratio of the character.
Though I must say, I honestly don't think it was that nessecary and there is a too great risk of flame wars.

I respect everone's opinion and just leave it that way.
 
I see where you're coming from, but I wouldn't know what to talk about (regarding the other characters), mainly due to them having a lack of appearances in resent years, Ashley's a different story, she's appearing much more often, so there's more to discuss about her character.

The number one reason why she's brought up so often is because of her many appearances, which is like I said, could bring up more discussion about what's next for the character, what could become of the character, if this is even leading to anything, etc. If you guys really try however, there might be things to discuss about the other cast of ware, like. I suppose --- why does 9-volt wear such a wacky helmet? (inb4 actual thread of this appears) I'm not sure, but you guys could come up with things for the other cast --- I think.

I mean, you guys already made a whole thread for the whole crew of Warioware because Ashley just has so much threads...
 
I can see your point. As I said sometime before: The Ashley popularity is a snowball effect: People like Ashley because she's different from the other characters. Nintendo, of course, knows this and makes more ashley stuff which makes her more popular and increases the demand for more Ashley stuff. Much to the annoyance of the fans of other characters.

Yeah, I wanted stats to prove a point. Basically, someone was asking me 'what Nintendo characters are divisive among what fandoms', and I said Ashley was an example with the Wario fanbase. But hey, since I couldn't prove it, I decided to start a poll and find out for myself.
